Hi all,

My place in Bacheli (PBV) is finaly finished and ready for me to stay! Will be out there soon for 3 weeks which I am very much looking forward to, but would appreciate if anyone could let me know what goes on in Bacheli/Esentepe re restaurants, beaches nearby etc etc.

Am going to hire a car of course, but don't fancy basing my social life around Kyrenia which is a bit of a hike...

Also, looking for some furniture for my rooftop (plastic chairs x 4 and table)... If anyone has anything 2nd hand that would be great. Furniture in NC is so expensive so trying to get the best deal...

Thanks all!

Yvonne

Hi Yvonne,

we are in Crystal Bay Park although not there yet !!

Bars and restaurants are all needing a driver unfortunately but hopefully within walking distance soon.

Some developments are lucky and have bars onsite.

Lovely area and I hope you enjoy -we do.

Good luck and have fun in your new place.

Hi Mags,

Well eventually, PBV will have its own bar, restaurant etc but that will probably be in 2010. We do have a pool tho'! Although I'm a beach person though - love the waves and the ocean.

I guess I'll have to organise some parties in my place then - with me being 'chauffeur' and sorting out a bbq on my rooftop (help!)!

Looking forward to it!

Thanks a mill.

Hi again Y,

where is PBV?

If you are near Esentepe/Bachelli the Moulis is a good place to go.Nice bar, good food and themed nights.

Stevies Bar is another as are the waterholes on the Turtle Bay development but you do need a car.

Get to know your neighbours and have a good party !!!

Keep in touch and come and have a drink with us when we hopefully move in in Oct.

The Antique on the coast road at Esentepe is good and there are about 4 places to eat in Esentepe village itself although you would have to drive. I would agree that the Moulos Inn is good and merits a visit. There seems to be more and more opening in that area now. We are just off the coast road near Esentepe and can't wait til our next holiday in September.

Hi Mags,

Yes, am about 5 min drive from Korineum Golf Club. Know a couple of people out this way but most of my friends are in Kyrenia. However, I have got my sofa-bed, spare room etc for them so hopefully there will be many parties! Thanks so much Mags for your kind invite -hopefully we will have many an Efes full evening in the years to come. Will keep in touch.

Hi Patricia!

Thank you so much for your suggestions, much appreciated and taken onboard. Hopefully we'll somehow meet up in September. What about beaches? Do you have any recommendations?

Best of luck, Yvonne

Beaches - there is Lara beach and Alagadi beach on the way to Girne which are sandy beaches. If you travel towards the Karpaz, Kaplica is a nice beach with a little cafe by the side. If you feel like driving a long way there are lovely beaches further on from Kaplica and on the southern coast of the Karpaz there is a lovely beach at Bafra which is next to the new Artemis Hotel. People say that there are beaches at Esentepe but they are not really my idea of a beach and my choice would be to try one of those I have mentioned.

What dates are you out in September? We were over for 3 weeks in June and it was fab!

We will be over again in September but we haven't booked our flights yet but it will probably be around the time you are there as my daughter is over until 14th and we will be coming after she goes back!

For furniture and things try Amanda's auction - you need to be a bit discerning but there is some excellent stuff

sometimes there. it can be a long day out so go to view and decide when to arrive. She moves around 60 items an hour which is impressive in that heat. So witha catalogue (3YTL) you can gauge your arrival time. There is food and drinks and loos. Sometimes bargains!! The best stuff is usually at the end.

Hi Yvonne,

Glad you are all nearly sorted at PBV. We are at No 9 PBV (Pool Cres) and out in Aug for 2 weeks afterwhich we will give you the current picture re our local restaurents & bars.

We were out in May to buy furniture and visited a couple. Can support msg 5 and recommend the Antique, it has a nice feel about it, good service and great valued food. In my opinion well worth a visit @ 5mins in car from PBV towards Kyrenia. Poppin is another local nearby (in same direction). Very friendly staff with excellent curries. Will be trying out the others mentioned above in Aug.

Cheers for now.

We stayed at medview in june and never had to go into Kyrenia for a good meal and night out.

Essentepe Hotel was a good meal and had entertainment on Friday nights. Poppins do a mean curry and reasonably priced. Steves Bar at Tatlisu (will be walking distance for me when property finished) for a drink and do meals Friday nights (probably need to book) Also a holiday village restaurant which I think was called Alkans but not sure did a decent meal. Didn't go to Antique this time but have visited in the past and was a nice meal. There's also the golf club and Eagles nest (haven't been there yet) Kings bar at turquoise bay and 2 restaurants on Turtle Bay which I think got good reviews recently.

Will need to drive to them, just lash the wine out when you get back. That what we did and had a great time.
