Hi there Newbie and welcome to the board Best to change sterling in TRNC, you will get a better rate normally. You won't need plug adaptors, the plugs are three pin UK style. Harold

From an only-tourist visitor, I can answer that it might be worth changing a very small amount (sub-£30-ish) because the only places you'll find to change up are right in town, so it might be useful to buy bottled water (you can't drink tap water there) As Harold said above me, you won't need a plug adaptor. Where abouts are you staying in Girne? The harbour is very nice but you'll pay over the odds there. The smaller surrounding villages have nice bars, try to find a Cypriot-owned one (like the Rose Garden, Ozankoy) just to experience the atmosphere. Restaurants, try to go to the Rafters and the Courtyard (although someone will have to confirm that they're both still there!) as both are very nice. Hope that helps1

CraigJ88 'Can't drink tap water here' You eat processed cheese and everything else that comes out of tins or cans? Problems with your immune system? I've been drinking tap water here for ten years without any problems. A G&T at the bar with ice is fine but do you really think bars use bottle water for making ice? Richard

Every time I've been I've been told not to drink the tap water, sorry if that's not true! Clearly, bad advice is viral.
