| I have to get back my guarantee letter which was sent to the Tax office in Lefkosa when my bank account was set up at Turk bank. I now want to close my account, but they have said i have to get the letter back first. Anyone heard of this? If so was it difficult to do? Where the hell is the tax office? Why is life so bloody difficult? Sorry - please ignore the last question!!!!!! |

| Bank guarantees are normally given for a certain amount and a certain time. As the name implies, the bank guarantees to pay this certain amount if asked. Therefore the bank normally holds a similar amount of your money as security. If you wish to close your account or withdraw the money which has been "blocked", you have to wair until the period for the guarantee ends or you have to get it back and give it to the bank so that they are no longer responsible for the sum they originally guaranteed on your behalf. Thus there is nothing unusual about it. ismet |
