90 visa about to expire

My 90 days in country is just about up, was thinking of going to Istanbul for 5 days and returning, but many people have advised me, just to walk over the Ledra crossing to the south and on my return will get another 90 day visa. Is this correct ?????? I though I had to leave the country for a few days.

Well if "TRNC" is a country then the RoC is another nation and you *should* be fine.... you'll soon find out if they practise what they preach !

It is not a valid way of renewing your visa and it is purely down to the discretion of the TC immigration staff.

Some have had problems doing it that way and the only way to be sure is to travel to Turkey. There was a family that were deported not so long ago because they thought going South continually to renew their visa would save them having to pay out for temporary residency.

Be warned.

If things were that easy why do I go to the bother of renewing my Residency each year, its not fair if its just a matter of crossing the border and then returning, this doesnt work, some might be lucky, but like me

If AJ is saying TR is ok, but not the "rump" RoC - it kinda makes you think, huh ?



Hope the whole thing is resolved and you can look fwd to *registering* and paying 8 Euros, and that's it !

Take AJ's advice. It's not worth the stress if your passport is stamped with only the number of days left upto your 90 days. Finding a reasonable priced flight out with 24 hours notice is nigh on impossible. Spend a few days in Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya, Bodrum, Izmir to name but a few of the places that CTA and other airlines fly to from the TRNC.
