How cruel can you get? Expecting greyhounds to run in this heat, even at 9 pm? I expect they are probably the same dogs in each race as well. Greyhounds are naturally lazy dogs, and can only cope with a short fast burst of speed, but not in this sort of climate unless of course you have an air conditioned stadium, which I doubt.

How do I know , spent lots of time on a farm with my sister as a youngster, she had pedigree greyhounds.

They need the meat to build their muscles, but agree should be banned here unless it is in an air conditioned stadium. How would the owners of the course like to run like the clappers in this heat???

We're talking about two laps of a track chasing a bunny! My dogs do that for fun (when they find a hare), and one's a labrador. We went to this track when it was first built two or three years ago. Bit of a farce, the dogs got round OK but the bunny didn't. Gave up after second attempt. No gambling, but nice little restaurant and music provided - even dedicated a song to my wife. The dogs didnt seem stressed at all. I think it's compassionate to run them at night. If they are being mistreated in any way I will be the first to be heard. Are these judgements/condemnations being made before or after investigation?

You may be right, but you may be wrong. The guy who invested his time and money building this track based it on the design of Sittingbourne track in Kent. No point in investing in a future that involves healthy animals then starving, maiming and crippling them is there? I'm a dog lover, but I also used to love a couple of hours at the local greyhound track. Greyhound racing does use dogs, and I mean use in the exploitive sense. Many are discarded when no longer at their peak. Some are found homes, others are probably put down. The abuse happens in the UK as well as other places, I suspect. Dogs regularly get injured and become lame while running. Many people's life are damaged by gambling addiction, a lot of that happens at greyhound tracks. Shit happens, unfortunately.
