I believe it has been extended to 30 April 2008.

You can go and pay on Monday, but you must go very early in the morning, my cousin went at 7.30 am and waited 2 hours. My friend went at 6.30 am and waited all day.

Re the land registry at Girne. Spoke to someone today who said they will only deal with 30 registrations per day so if you get there and there are more than 30 people already in the queue forget it. The person I spoke to had got there at 5.40am and there was already a lot of people waiting. A staff member came out and handed out 30 tickets and told everyone else to leave.

Jimbo

I'm also coming out (Friday) with the aim of paying the stamp duty on Monday March 31st, so it had better be ok. I'm told that it takes about 2 hours wait usually but you can imagine what bedlam there will be on the last day. No doubt I'll see you at the scrum down.

FALSE INFORMATION

So far the amnesty for Stamp Duty Penalties expires on 31st March. there have been rumours that it has been extended but nobody has managed to confirm or prove it. After 31st March it will be 0.7% for old contracts(pre2005) until 12th July 2008. For contracts signed in 2005 or later it will be 1.5% unles of course the general amnesty is extended.

Stamp duty paid at the old British consulate building facing port on the corner of road that leads to Palm Beach Hotel. basically left turning at stature roundabout passed old city, right at juction, finance ministry on right 300 metres
