BBC news report, Iceland now wishes to join the EU. Well, that's the end of any future cod wars! So now as a bankrupt Country they have thrown in the towel! What will be of interest is whether they will be 'fast tracked' into the 'club' leaving Turkey languishing in the back ground! Watch this space!

I don't see how iceland could maintain their huge fishing zones inside the eu,

but rather it is about the collapse of the icelanding currency and banking system

and how the eu might ride to the rescue of all that

don't worry there can't be any cod wars soon because there won't be any cod

we will have to exist on turkey twizzlers instead

or better stll try getting a pack of chicken hearts at lemar, very tasty, honestly

cheap into the bargain, wife adors but if you don't like 'em, the cat surely will

Msg 3

Chicken livers lightly floured and slowly pan fried served with mash and a light gravy, great for a very cheap, nutritious meal.

Message 4 - good Lord - sounds rather like a 'Hannibel Lecter' recipe. (Look it up)

PS I should like to add (sorry to bore other posters) that I abided by 'The Truce' i.e. didn't pick up on misspellings, etc. but ..........................

Dear Richard,

re msg 1

I am commenting as you asked !!

I was aware that Iceland had asked to join... and will no doubt made concessions re the fishing rights and MUCH more.

Not sure of how the financial stability required will be achieved...

So, Iceland needs the EU...What can Iceland do for us? I know my local district and county council would like some money back !
