Hi all, sorry to change subject - still no reply from Kavanlar. It is like we don't exist. We personally wrote to them 2 weeks ago on an oustanding problem with our apartment, also no luck. Not quite sure what we have to do to get some action here!!!! Any suggestions?

Hi. we have been also been trying to contact them of late.however we received an e mail saying that Fatma is no longer the customer contact and that Hulya has taken over. We e mailed Hulya at the usual e mail address with our concerns and got a quick and posotive reply.

Hi All, Yup, it's been a while since i have posed a question. Has anyone from Phase 1 paid Kavanlar the £1000 for the transformer, i intend to dig my heels in and tell them to "do one"? Next question is, has anyone received their title deeds without paying for the transformer? Unfortunately i have not had the chance to get out to our apartment this year.....the wife is making up for my absence though!!!! We hope to get out late Sept, early Oct, so for all you lucky buggers out there at the moment enjoy and make the most of it cause the weather here is......... Cheers Jim & Isabella

Was told a while ago that Ilker uses saturday mornings inhis office to catch up. Might be an idea to rally a few who are there at a given time and all go to his office to see him.Quite willing to do it when we are there but not out till 9th Sept. Bill

Ilker said when we were out there recently that he would put a gate at the entrance of phase 2, the missing comunal lights would be put in, the lights would be switched on, boundary walls would be built + metal railings put on, BUT ONLY WHEN THEY HAD COMPLETELY FINISHED PHASE 3. He also told some phase 3ers that they coud use our swimming pool + on talking to some of them I learned that becuse their apartment was late in finising he had put them up twice at Kavanlars expense in a 4 bed private villa with pool + a hotel. I was told that the English don't get anything because they don't complain enough. WELL I SAY LETS BLOODY START.

not really good enough is it,i'm probably only going to be over for a couple of weeks between now and easter so its not the end of the world but for people who are over there all the time it must be a pain.I'll try Ilker when i'm over in a few weeks time,as i'll be a newbie,he may take some action and i can be pretty persuasive at times! ask my wife! lol.

On the subject of e mails,it seems that e mails to Cyprus sometimes get lost in space. I sent two e mails on the 26th of July, one to Hulya and one to my sister who lives in Cyprus, neither received them and I did not get a message back from my provider saying that they had not been sent which I would normally expect. So my advice is if you do not get a quick reply then re send. It may not be that they are ignoring you.

Hi Niftyduo, had a good look around today at phase 4 - moving pretty quickly now, but do not think they will be ready in 3 weeks time - no ways. I would think still a couple of months at least, maybe wrong.!!! Phase 5 is more advanced, kitchens in, and wardrobes - no baths or toilets etc. Hope all is well with you there in sunny England.

I really do think that we, the owners on Kavancoy 2 need to start banging a few Kavanlar heads together with regard to our unfinished site. I have in the last week sent 2 emails to Ilker / Hulya asking when the following will be completed and had no response at all. Kavanlar would have had a lot to say if we all had responded in the same way to their request for money during stage payments. 1. Pool Pergola, when. 2. Pool Lights, 4 don't work. 3. Pool Railings, when will they be painted. 4. Boundary Walls between phase 2 and 3 / 4 to secure the site. 5. Entrance Gate to secure the site. We have now had our keys for over 12 months and I'm sure that Kavanlar will soon announce over to you. We will then have to pay for all of this ourselves. Please can as many people as possible email or speak to Ilker, Fuat, Hulya or Meps. The more that do, the more chance we have of getting things done.

When we were over in July foreign owners on phase 3 told me that Kavanlar are well aware that the British do not complain. That is why phase 3 was finished quicker, some were put up in 5 star villas / hotels at Kavanlars expense, they have more plants and trees , they have ample parking facilities etc. This is because they all stood together + shouted. LETS DO SOME SHOUTING. HP

HP top and bottom is are they interested ? go take a look around phase1 and se the hole in the road they promised to fill in 18months ago . I have believe that Kavanlar are honourable men and will complete your problems ,as i still believe that they will tarmac the unfinished road on phase1. so Ilker are you hourable ? and was you statement 4 years ago "I WANT THESE TO BE THE BEST APPARTMENTS IN THE WHOLE OF CYPRUS" does this still stand kav

Hi Kav, Kavanlar will have to be interested if we all stand together. In my opinion too many of us are looking at our apartments and saying how wonderful etc., us included. They do seem to be a quality build [time will tell] but would we buy a mercedes without its wing mirrors , lacking a coat of paint + side lights not working. I don't think so. More need to get on Ilker's case. HP.

I personally know that 3 owners on Kav 2 are particularly bothered about these issues as I have had direct contact. Due to the lack of posts it seems as if no one else is ! So its back to the rose tinted spectacles is it ? HP.

hi duncan good to see you on line. I went to see Ilka at the begining of August. We asked about the lights and begoda. The reply being that he had paid for the begoda to be erected but before they could do it the carpenters son had died aged 15yrs so he didnt want to push him at that moment. Saying that it does seem to be going on longer than expected. Maybe he does need a little push. As for the lighting and the gate ,there is no excuse .Also I am very concerned about the state of tye flower beds, there seems to be little or minimal care, and the watering system is not working efficintly. Considering that 95% of the people are paying for this .Where is the money going I estimate that they are recieving £500 a week so I dont think we are getting a good deal. I will be back on the 15th October hope to see some people then.JOHN P

Hi John, Thanks, I'm glad you agree, I wasn't aware of the carpenters' sad loss, thats terrible, but the Pergola is Ilkers' shout + I think he should deal with it. The flower beds + watering is Meps responsibility + I believe there is a new Manager. We are over 14 Oct. so perhaps we can see them togeher. I will email you direct re anothr problem we were told about yesterday . See you October.Thanks. Duncan.

Hi everyone, I have sent an e.mail to Ilker and Fatma, asking if they could get the paving outside our apartment fixed as it has sunk down several inches and is extremelly dangerous. Especially as I will either be on crutches or in a wheelchair. I have broken a bone in my foot and the main plaster comes off 5 days before we are over in September and they are either putting a back plate or some sort of boot on it. I will only just be able to put some weight on it. My sister who is out at the moment says that I would never be able to negociate the sunken slabs as they are a hazard. I will let you know if I receive a reply or if anyone goes out to fix them !!!!!!! Liz

back to message 48: I have no reason to doubt the story of the carpenter and the loss of his son but the idea of Ilker paying up front is hard to swallow. Many of his suppliers say exactly the opposite, they can't get them to pay up until well after the event. I like Ilker and admire his inventiveness with excuses but we do need to keep at him. It is looking increasingly like next year before he pulls his finger out. Message 52: sorry to hear about your foot. Hopefully, we will catch up with you when you are out. It will be a change to push you around a bit (in your chair, of course),

Hi all, just to update you on the Pergola situation - there is NO update. Difficult when you do not receive any replies from Kavanlar. There were a couple of apartment owners speaking with Ilker, Fuat and I think the big Boss a short while ago, but same story as message from Niftyduo. It seems that as we have been waiting for so long, a little longer is unimportant to them. All you want is some sort of definite answer, instead of fobbing us off all the time. We were told that the Pergola was being made months ago. Can't see that it really does take THAT long!!!

i'm over in a couple of weeks time and as i'll be a newbie i may get some joy as regards pergola, gate etc, have they patched the tarmac up on phase 2,as i had it included in my contract that a retainer will be held back by naomi mehmet unless this is done. Cant wait to get over there though! Got lots of shopping for the apartment to do.

Hi sporty, I know the apartment you mean its in block G . We are over the end of september till 1st week in october so we might meet you then. Yes Folks the paving has been done!!!!! Now we have a leak in the water tank on the roof. The self same tank was replaced in April and now we have another leak. My sister has been on to Ilker and the plumber is supposed to be coming to get it fixed. My problem with this is why not put a decent tank in in the first place and then they would not have to keep replacing them, as I know that several people have had tanks leak or blow up. I'm sure that these repairs must be costing Kavanlar!!!!! Never mind all the problems we wouldn't change our place for the world as we all love it and our brilliant neighbours. Liz

Back to the pergoda problem, Ilker clearly doesn't want to build one. In a much earlier conversation Ilker expressed the view to me that the phase 1 pergoda was a waste of time and that he had never seen anybody use it. To some extent, I am inclined to agree with him but that yawning open space does need to be finished off to make it look attractive. Perhaps it is time for us residents to come up with some creative ideas, practical and useful. I am happy to start the ball rolling and suggest we ask Ilker to build 2 or 3 static, ceramic picnic tables & benches each with its own smaller pergoda to give shade. These scattered about the open space could make it look more interesting. Let's have more ideas and see if we can come up with something less boring than a giant pergoda which Ilker probably doesn't intend to build. If it is cheaper, he will go for it!

Agree with you. Maybe it is a good idea. We can't seem to get any further with a pergoda, anthing will look better than a bunch of cables sticking out in the centre of the area where we are supposed to have the pergola. I personally know that Ilker does not care about what is said on the Forum. So who is going to tackle him about this new idea? I believe he feels his job is done. We had a really super get-together some weeks ago with a lot of the apartment owners, had a great barbeque one evening in the area in question.

| hi all I do not agree with this at all, a pagoda is on the planes which we all paid so a pagoda is what we want. If he had not put a roof on the apartment's would we settle for a umbrella ? NO so i suggest that we all get together and appoint a legal team to represent us and sort this matter out as soon as possible. it may mean all of us have to foot the bill but that is the correct way of proceeding, i am over on the 15th of october with my family hopefully things may look better by then and maybe we will have a BBQ around the pool. | Hi, I agree John, but I don't believe any of us should have to put our hands in our pocket. We are over on 14 Oct. and I think a strong prescence of as many men as poss. in Ilkers' office will go a long way. Were all his excuses about the pergola lies? well if this is so he is way out of line + reached a new low for me. I'm sorry to say it but as many angry men as we can muster is all he will listen to. Involving Solicitors will take years. D |

But if he is that foolish + nothing is accomplished yes lets go down the legal route. He's probably sulking because we said no to his friend running a bar on our land, under our 'Pergola', using our utilities to sting us for beers etc.

hi duncan i dont think that will work very well as we are in there country they will call the police and it will be big problems. there must be some money in the meps fund to deal with these type of problems, maybe its time to get them involved. great to hear that you are going over there on the 14th we will all have a get together and have a drink arround the pool.

may i suggest if you club together you can buy the pregola from phase1 ,lol. seriously we dont use it ,some of the kids in winter have a pool table etc other than that its storage for sunbeds. May be it makes more sense open to relax around and give you more space ,ie a quieter corner if you dont want to sit near a pool ,or if kids are having fun etc ?. on the other front ,you are spot on if you have paid for it and want it then go get it .... kav

So we have the views of two members who do favour a pergola. Personally, having seen the lack of utility of the phase 1 monster, I don't. It serves no real purpose but a liesure area does. Let's keep the date going and have some wider views.

To be quite honest, I'm just as bothered by the lack of privacy and security regarding our boundary seperating phase 4/5 + us. Or lack of it is more the point. Ilker promised a wall here. If he doesn't put it up all of 4 + 5 will be using our pool when they move in as phase 3 are/were. He also promised a secure gate. If our site doesn't look private, no amount of signs will keep it private. There is also the pool railings that need painting and all pool lights need to work. D

i think an open area with permanent seating, bbq area, some large earthenware pots with perhaps some greenery of some sort is far better than having the pergola, some shading umbrellas or similar would be rather attractive, the pool area would then be more of an open space, that would allow more flexibility of sunbeds etc. totally agree with gate and walling to secure phase 2,thinking about it bit why put a ruddy great pergola on what could be a really nice open space, afterall its only for shade, which is important but surely shade could be provided using other options, all obviously imho, willing to go with the majority on this one. if its ever erected thats it! no further options then. just a thought.

Hi All I think that the pergola is a good idear, what you have to remember is that it is really hot out there and every one does not like the sun as much as others. I think it is very inportant that you have to have a shaded area at the moment the place is very open and plain and does not look very attractive, i think it would be silly to start changing plans now lets just get what they owe us and we can all go from there. thanks Johney P PS we had a lovely bbq when we were out there thanks to every one that was there

I agree about the shade but the question is whether we need a giant pergola or whether it would be better with two or three smaller, lighter pergolas covering a table or seating area. Something more communal where people could gather with their drinks for an evening chat, or a bbq. My fear is that no matter how much we pester, Ilker is not inclined to build similar to phase 1. It is important to get something built since it looks unfinished in its present state. I'm not sure that confrontation is the way forward with Ilker, he will just dig his heels in if pushed too hard and we need to keep him onside for the future. I think the way forward is to sit down with Ilker and talk about the art of the possible and discover his views. If there is common ground then a workable plan might evolve.

Hi Nifty, What do you think re the privacy issue ie no boundary walls between 4+ 5, no gate, 4 + 5 residents using our pool etc as they are from phase 3.Pool lighting + railing paint. HP.

they have built a sort of wall between phase 2 and phase 4 but its the same size as the kerb so its not going to stop anyone from walking over. It needs railings or to be built higher to stop people using our site as a parking lot or a through road. We certainly need the gate at the front as it finishes the entrance off and then you realise that its private. Also we need the lighting fixed. Liz

message 90 hi liz we have a gate on pahse 1 but it never gets closed ,i wonder if it still does lol. who would keep getting in and out of the car 3 or 4 times per day to close it /open it ? when the pool was filled in 1 we would get the odd stray come of the road and just settle down for a swim ,its up to all residents to challenge them and if they aint on your phase flirt them off (nearly swore then lol) . if they dont pay meps ,they dont use the facilities ,thats our stance ...we have one knob who thinks hes above paying ...time will decide on his future . kav

Hi all on phase 2. I don`t write on here very often but I think that a pergola would be a mistake. We were out in August and it seemed very busy around the pool. It was nice to have an open area just a little way back. The area around our pool is about the same size as phase 1 but with a lot more residents. I agree with Sporty and niftyduo that we do need the area to be finished with maybe picnic tables ,plants ,pots etc but to have a pegola similar to phase 1 is overkill. Some light shading would be ok but enough room left for those that want to sunbathe away from the pool. As there are lots of conflicting views what about having a vote on it via meps? Regarding thr site security we definetely need railings between the sites. Stuart

I know that it sounds a bit silly ,but even if the gate was there and not closed it would look better than it does at the moment. It would also be nice if the camera's were working!!! Only one week to go and we will be out!!!!!!! can't wait. Liz

Hi Kav, We spent alot of time challenging people when we were out in July, at least on phase 1 any intruders have to access via the gate. They come from all angles on phase 2, from 4 + 5 over the 4 inch wall, from the back/phase 3 down the little hand made ladders, up the little path via the builders accom. + brazenly through the entrance. A short cut to go to work + come home from work, to use the pool on a Sunday or just to drive around at all hours of the night. We all got pretty naffed off about it. It has been said by locals that if it isn't stopped altogether, unwelcome vsitors would soon begin to arrive + make little BBQ's in the stone chippings + chill out the whole of Sunday. HP

Local traffic through the site is clearly a problem looking for a solution. I'm not sure a gate is the answer mainly because, like phase 1, it will remain permanently open. Perhaps consultation with MEPS should be the starting point. At least they understand the cultural attitudes of the locals and might have an idea of a workable solution.
