Dear Forum Members, I have looked all over the internet for an answer to my question, I hope I can find it here. I'm planning a 3 weeks trip with a rental car through South and North Cyprus. For our travel route, it would be most convenient to cross the border to the North at the Zhodeia/Bostanci crossing. I understood from info online and our rental company that this is possible, as long as you buy extra car insurance for North at the border. Unfortunately, I can not find anything on the Bostanci crossing in particular: - Are there car insurance companies that will help us? - At what time does that border close in the evening? This is our planned travel route: Larnaca Airport - 3 nights Lythrodontas & around - 3 nights Galata &Troodos - 2 nights Droussia &Akamas - border crossing at Bostanci - 3 nights Lefke & around - 3 nights Girne & around - 2 nights Karpaz & around - 1 night Larnaca- flight back. Any accomodation tips on Lefke & Karpas would also be appreciated! Th

lena6 see this Zohdia (Güzelyurt) This crossing point may also be known as, Astromeritis, Morpho, Morfu, Güzelyurt, Omorfo, or Morfou. This was the last checkpoint to be opened, as it is located to the west of Nicosia. This checkpoint allows for the crossing of pedestrians, vehicles, and goods kav

lena6, you are correct (despite what Kav wrote) the crossing is known in TRNC as Bostanci, a small village less than a mile due South of Guzelyurt. Also , it was not the last crossing to be opened - that was Locmaci in central Lefkosa, but that is not relevant to your question. Unfortunately for you, I do not know if there is an insurance office on this side at Bostanci (I would guess there probably is, but hopefully someone on here will know. If you don't hear, it is not too serious a problem for you. From the South side of Bostanci it is only 30-40 minutes drive to Metehan crossing, just before Nicosia(Lefkosa) where there are definitely insurance facilities, and then 25 minutes more driving back to Bostanci. Again I hope someone else on here will tell you the opening hours for Metehan. The crossing is open 24 hours, but the insurance may only be an extended working day but not night. Sounds like a good trip, enjoy.

Hi Lena I know that you cant but insurance at Bostanci (the last time i went was March- but things do change all the time here!! ) going North to South but I think you can but coming from South to North, but they are only open limited hours. As mentioned above you would probably be better going to Metahan. As far as places to stay have just come back from a weekend in the Karpaz and stayed at the Stone houses ( part of Arch Houses - email address provided on earlier posting) which are fantastic, but can also highly recommend villa carparis http://www.villacarparis.com Even if you dont decide to stay at Villa Carparis, you must eat there as the food is fab- home grown organic fruit and veg. The meal including meze, main meal (choice of various meat dishes but no menu as he gets fresh daily) and dessert is 20ytl and superb. We ate there two evenings and the owner was so helpful and accomodating you couldnt ask for any more Have a lovely time -i am sure you will Jo
