Hi. Could someone tell me, once you have entered from the South and purchased car insurance. Are you then free to cross and re-cross during the validity of the insurance, or do you have to pay each time. Regards

Dear Bedas if you are crossing from the "rump" RoC ( south) to the "north" ( "TRNC") you must buy insurance - which is third party - and can be valid for 30 days upwards - Tourist ( red plated ) cars cost more. You need to have a current driving licence at the crossing point - as the "TRNC" Police may stop you a second time - after only 50m - to check your insurance and licence.

Hi, I have done this twice recently and the cost is 35EUR'S for 3rd party for 1 month and 70EUR's for fully comprehensive for 1 month, you have to ask for this or they will just assume you want 3rd party. You can the cross back and forth as many times as you like while the insurance is valid, however you must make sure you carry the insurance papers with you at all times and you will get "pounced" on by the last Policeman on the left hand side as you drive back in to the North every time, even AFTER you have already shown the papers to the guy in the booth and got your passport slip stamped. He will want to look at the docs again before letting you through. But it really is quite straight forward. Chezzi

Hi, they ask for EURO's. The first time I did this, I didnt know they would want EURO's and I didnt have any, so I offered GBP of YTL, they accepted the GBP after some dallying around, but gave me a crap exchange rate, ie £1 for 1EUR even though the rate was then around 1.14EUR to the £. So next time I simply drew some EURO's out of the cash machine at Larnaca airport while waiting for the lugguge to come through. the cash machine is right opposite the luggage belts. Good luck, Chezzi
