This internet connection is absolute crap, I spend more time on the phone to their *helpline* than actually on the internet, excuses is all I get from them. Can anyone recommend a broadband that actually provides the service you pay for.

don't waste your time, effort and money with this lot - the best broadband in the TRNC is Bortec (opp Burger City in Kangerangaloo)...

Been with them 2 years and no problems whatsoever......

Hi NN

What do BORTEC charge ? What download speed do you get ?

I am just about to move from 3G (don't ask!) and neither Sunny Cyprus or Nethouse can get a signal from my place in Upper Kyrenia. I know that Extend works in my area but have read some iffy reports about them.

Regards

Paul

Bortec is an agent for one of the other suppliers, the best options are ADSL (if you can get it) and Nethouse Networks and eXtend

None of the systems are perfect but Nethouse and eXtend are using 5.8 Ghz radios in their CPEs unlike Sunnycyprus who use 2.4 Ghz

It all really depends where you live and how close you are to the companies base station and the line of sight you have to their base station.

We were with Sunny Cyprus when we were there but had a crap signal and it was off more than it was on, but once we moved to Nethouse all our problems disappeared. Although the distance to each of the companies base stations was equidistance, Sunny Cyprus in Girne and Nethouse in Bellapais, our line of sight to the Nethouse receiver was perfect and with a good pair of binoculars you could actually see the antenna.

So the best bet is ask your neighbours who they are with and the service they get, then make up your mind.

We are working with Sunnycyprus more than 10 years now.

In the office we have a wireless connection and at home I am using ADSL - never had any problems at all.

But we are in Girne - maybe this ist the reason.

Kind regards

Kantara
