Have put this on before but it has not come up. Here goes again.

Emergency service people are now looking into your mobile phones under ICE ( In Case of Emergency ) if you are involved in an accident.

Having lots of telephone numbers on your mobile is ok but the emergency service people dont know which to inform if , GOD forbid , you have an accident. By putting the numbers of persons you want informed under ICE it will help the people dealing with you.

So get cracking and put those numbers in now and inform all your friends as this is one of those ideas that is simple but effective.

Very good idea. I am putting down 4 numbers under Name:"ICE" and Surname "Acil" which is Turkish for Emergency. You can enter name or surname on my phone and all the four numbers will come up. Now the next step is to publicize it as wdely as possible.

Just a thought: what happens if I have the same number registered under ICE and also under the persons proper name? Is it possible and if so which name will show up on the phone when that person calls me? Now that may be a drawback, mut try it.

On Nokia and I presume other phones if you have the number in twice under 2 names it just displays the number when that person calls you

I have sorted it out now. As Wanderer said if you have the same number under two different names it just displays the number as if it is not in your directory.

On my Nokia I can register first name and surname and it will display both. Furthermore I can search under both names. Then I tried adding 3rd and fourth names and it works fine too.

Solution: I simply added "Acil" and "Ice" after the names of 1. wife, 2.daughter, 3.son, 4.son in law, 5.daughter in law and 6.brother in law. Acil means Emergency in Turkish.

So if anybody enters Ice or Acil in the directory all the six names comes up. Wonderful. I hope it is never required!

Not quite sure I've got to grips with this one. If the patient is in such a state so cannot use his/her phone nor communicate, surely the paramedics will have their hands full trying to save the life rather then mucking about on mobiles!
