This is a great restaurant & Turan used to have a restaurant in Kettering before coming back to Cyprus. His mum does most of the cooking & if you enjoy home made food, then visit & see what you think.

re message 5 im not aware of the thread that was closed but with regards to my posting i think you will find this forum is a place that many exchange views, experiences and recomendations of places to eat drink shop etc. I dont think necessarily advertising just informing people of a special offer with regards to an established place to eat thats all.

Have eaten at Tourans. If you enjoy eating in a cattery then you may just like it. Cats are everywhere. Its certainly not the cleanest of places we've been to.

a small back room which had an elderly lady in there which seemed to be just about standing on her feet, the kitchen has no ventilation no air con i stood there for 5 mins if that ,chatting to her and the sweat was pouring off me im not sure how she manages to cook in there and the cats OH NO NOT JUST OUTSIDE BUT YES YOU HAVE GUESSED IT IN THE KITCHEN ON ThE TABLE ON THE WORKTOPS..... whilst i stood chatting to her explaining that i was looking for the bathroom i took in the kitchen which is less than basic and ABSOLUTELY FILTHY INFACT I DO NOT THINK I HAVE EVER SEEN ANYTHING QUITE SO DISGUSTING IN ALL MY LIFE. the food that we had eaten was served from dishes that were still uncovered on the kitchen table with flies bouncing off of them... im actually surprised that this is allowed and i certainly do not recommend anyonje to eat there. regards teeteerilly.

hello all my friend and i recently went to london turans restaurant in alsancak after seeing this posting decided to give it a try. Unfortunately i have to agree with message 8 it IS LIKE EATING IN A CATTERY!!!! with some of the smaller cats jumping on to the table whilst we were eating, this coming from an animal lover i have no probems with cats just not surrounded by 20 on and off the table whilst trying to eat. we didnt order but was told it was a set menu and would be brought a selection of cypriot dishes. the food arrived it was ok have had better roast chicken and potatoes (reheated in microwave) pretty universal not particularly cypriot, followed by some meat kofte again reheated, dolma.salad and bread all very basic. i then got up to find the bathroom no one was around to ask as far as i can tell its a one man show so off i went to find it but instead of the bathroom i happened upon the kitchen by mistake AND WHAT A MISTAKE THAT WAS....... the kitchen is a

Messages 9 & 10. Must admit, haven't been there for a good long while, probably because one visit was more than enough. The restaurant was recommended by a friend, who raved about the 'beautiful home-cooked food, fresh vegetables, etc." Well, to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. The food was average, at best. Every dish we were brought, Turan (who admittedly seemed a very nice chap) emphasised the fact that 'it was cooked by my Mum' which was a nice sentiment, but really didn't need to be constantly repeated. I seem to remember that he moaned the whole time, along the lines of "This country is finished" (mind you, he mind have a point there). Anyway, long story short(ish). We have never been back, we had no trouble with cats (we are avid cat lovers, but if our cats at home wouldn't dream of getting on the table/worktops.......).

Maybe the owner should change the format into a Hong Kong speciality restaurant featuring T.S. Elliot's little darlings on the menu! Richard
