In view of the current water situation I'm thinking of sending my bedding and towels to a local laundry for washing and ironing, any recommendations - west of Girne- and can you give me any idea of prices?

Don't know if its still there, but we used to use 'Wash and Go' at Bellapais junction. They were really reasonable and the washing smelt lovely.

I wouldn't go to the laundry near the Ship Inn (other side of the road) An Englsih friend was charged 70TL last year for 2 carrier bags of holiday clothes! He nearly had to sell his clothes to pay for the cleaning!

Laundry in Alsancak. Down the steps next to the little Yapi/hardware shop on the hill. Brilliant. Leave them the bags and it all comes back ironed with shirts on hangers. Sheets and towels beautifully folded. The loveliest Asian Family, not been there too long.

Hi I think Tootie and I are talking about the same one and Tootie is right saying that its Lapta not Alsancak. (god, I'm dangerous arnt I) We go from Lapta, after Riverside Restaurant, take the second turning on the right. White sign, red lettering saying LAUNDRY. Go to the top of the road, T junction, turn right and its Just along on the right hand side, down the side of an empty shop.

For the laundry in Lapta (the one Vidal is talking about) directions are as follows. Coming from Girne towards Alsancak and Lapta go past the turning to Riverside (keep on main road) carry on past Turk Bank and Capitano restaurant on the right. Go past the new Starling Supermarket (used to be Fresco) until you see a sign on the left for Rose Garden you turn left here and continue along this road until the T junction, you turn right and after about 150 metres on the right you will see a Yapi Market on the right, park up here and you will see to the left of the Yapi Market stairs going down the side of the building, at the bottom you will find the laundry. I have used them many times and have found them to be good.

If in lapta try Orcheda laundry. Or sous chef has it and does all our and many of our customersalong with many restaurants. I tried the one you are all on about but only ever got half my stuff back and had to search to find my missing items. I have also found Eton to be quiet good xxx
