Hi all, this will be our first time in Lapta we are staying out our friends apartment (Lemon Groves) from Sunday 2nd August for a week, just wondering if people can give us a bit of info on where to go in the evenings bars/restaurants (and are they in walking distance or would we need to drive/get taxi?). And also where is the best beach to spend a day where we can get food/drink. Any other info would be great Many Thanks Denise xxxx

There are plenty of places to eat and drink in Lapta, and nearby Alsancak or Karsiyaka. Arguably a hire car would be best, but there are dolmus minibuses that you can catch. Best beach? I'm afraid there are no "best" anythings anywhere in the world, but I like the public beach at Kervansaray. Alternatively, Silver Rocks in Lapta, Scruples in Lapta and Park Lane in Alsancak, to name just venues I've been to, are worthy a day by the pool with good food and beautiful surroundings. Eating wise, I like Kervan Pizza Garden for reasonable food, a great location to watch the sunset. Otherwise, Cafe Fastfood in Alsancak is pretty good. This is just an opinion based on my experience. There are many other good venues out there.

Denise If you want a "better" Italian or European meal - why not try Guido's in Alsancak near the lady statue on the main road. If you want Turkish Cypriot then you might want to try a number of restaurants the one that always used to be top of the value quality list was Niazi's in Kyrenia (near the Dome hotel) and some would recomend Cenap in the middle of Alsancak too.

Lapida Hotel in Lapta, very reasonable for their food, and they do lovely turkish food as well. Thought Guildo's little expensive, The Waterfront is good and Rosies do a good 'Voppa' dish, which is B.Q sardines, gorrrrrrgous,

Rosie's beach is also very nice. It's small, shallow water and very safe for children or weak swimmers like myself. As mentioned before the food is good and there is also another cafe next door which is equally good. Happy holidays.

Rosies on the beach is ex as you say as you can sit in the cafe bit and watch the kids down below playing in the sand and swimming, and they dont charge extortunate prices for the sun beds, if you eat or drink there I think even these could be free, not sure, so just go and enjoy.
