Pop into any of the mobile phone shops in Girne and they will tell you. Normal charge is 20TL for unlocking a phone.

if your having trouble getting it unlocked, use the walk across crossing at lefkosa and use the shop on the lefthand side of the main street, you can't miss it.

he had done lots for us that couldn't be unlocked here.

The Lemar supermarket as a mobile phone sales and repair service just inside door on the left. I know they do them because I had my Nokia unlocked there.

thanks for that suji20 unfortunately the phone I was trying to unlock was lost on KTHY flight to London a couple of weeks ago - it was in my Wifes hold luggage which the airline lost!!!
