Dear Cyprusairsoft it is very kind of you to ask me - as you always speak so highly of me ;) Wireless Video senders tend to work VERY poorly in most re-enforced concrete homes - especially if you are hoping to go up a floor through such a material Far better to use individual WIRED feeds from a dish, to a receiver to each TV point .. RF ( aerial cable) is the cheapest option, but you have to watch what is being watched in another room - it is possible to change channels with a "magic eye" http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090310122608AAFDcJS

My own personal experience bears out what mmmmmm says, and YES, there are interference problems with wireless routers into the bargain! One solution, if you are watching FTA satellite transmissions, is to fit a 2 or 4 output LNB to the dish, and run separate cables to each room - FTA receivers are quite cheap these days, and it does give you flexibility. If you are using Digiturk, or another 'paid for' service, then unfortunately you would need to purchase another subscription, so NOT a cheap option in that case! The Magic Eye scenario works well, and is normally simple to set up, unless you decide to put an extra splitter in the feed...

Hi, I've been using a video sender for 2 years now.... living room to bedroom.... digiturk sat system.... absolutely no problems... it can interfere with wireless router but mine has a channel change option... so its pretty good.

Hi Cyprusairsoft, Wireless video senders in the 2.4 Ghz range work quite well in Cyprus, but success over longer distances depends on the mW strength of the radio and the antennas. Usually, from lounge to upstairs bedroom is no problem. 5.8 GHhz senders are also available. I have been installing wireless routers and video senders for the last 6 years. Certain makes work far better than others. There is no replacement for experience! Washerman

Dear Washerman re msg 6 >>I have been installing wireless routers and video senders for the last 6 years. Certain makes work far better than others. >>There is no replacement for experience! << ) Hi Paul, as you are so "experienced" pray tell us which freq range most wireless video senders work in . 2.4Ghz.. and the majority of wireless hubs... THANK YOU.. Working in Media, Sat Comms , TVRO, networks and spec'ing kit a LOT longer than you... So.. Dear Washerman re msg 6 >>I have been installing wireless routers and video senders for the last 6 years. Certain makes work far better than others. >>There is no replacement for experience! << Coudn't agree more.. Wireless Video is the LAST resort as a new neighbour can move in and screw everything up... or you can MOVE a piece of furniture and lose the signal ;)

If you THINK using a 5.8 Ghz system will "solve" things.. They seem more prone to "Human movement" interference

| m&m - to be honest, I don't care what you tell Charles. Don't believe what you read on this forum from disgruntled ex-whatevers. You seem to be fixated! "wireless comms in TRNC" - we migrated 200+ clients from TIC's service to the new provider. We *currently* provide customer service to all + many other expats, including mod's on this board. m&m, you are moving from wreckless/negligent comments to intentional slur...be careful! on a lighter note....my first girlfriend was Russian, she was lovely, she had everything.......I think I've got it now! | Cyprusairsoft, I recently purchased a set of 5.8 Ghz videosenders and reciever units that worked very well and the main unit came with the magic eye that allows you to use the remote from the room you are using the reciever in to operate, it also has 4 switchable channels so you can have several recievers on different channels and just change the sender. I have used this syastem very succesfully in an apartment building where I can not get a cellphone signal unless I am at a window due to the wall structures but it had no problem with the wireless video signal and it did not interfere with the wireless internet signal throughout the house. I will send you a link to the details form Amazon if you wish. Regards, Paul |

There have been quite a few threads on this forum regarding 'Brits' that live and work in the TRNC with and without work permits, however, It makes me laugh at some of the supposedly 'legitimate' people out there have double standards. They are quick to condemn others, yet would think nothing of employing people 'on the side' to save money. (because they pay, then I suppose this must be ok? ). Admit to playing in bands with members who had 'NO PERMITS'....... Buy stuff from other countries and deliver into the South to 'avoid paying KDV' ..... Take cash up front and avoid issuing a Fatura and KDV receipt/invoice..... Buy/Sell services for TV that is certainly illegal..! Perhaps, we should be looking at 'ALL' the moral crusaders out there who in one way or another are avoiding being 100% legitimate. If you really do care that much then think back to all the times you paid cash for a service and didn't receive a receipt or the amount of times you paid 'cash in hand'

Washerman, I thought I was already in credit to the tune of £143? Thanks for the offer of coming back though, regrettably I will have to pass as 3G is achieving speeds you could only dream of and the 3G transmitters dont have power cuts every other day like you liked to claim yours did.

Washerman, The 3G base station is at the golf club, you know I live very close to the golf club, hence why I get such a strong signal. You couldn't even get me a signal from the Esentepe Hotel, and I can see that from the roof of our house. The 3G signal is weak as you go east from Esentepe, which is where Woody lives,Turkcell haven't upgraded the Bacheli transmitter yet.Why dont you try to be helpful for a change instead of been an arse all the time?

M&M - I don't need to tell him. Gooligan and I had a contractual dispute and so we have to agree to differ, but I'll tell you what Gooligan, I know you like a bet, how about £143 says you can't see the roof of the Esentepe Villa Hotel from the roof of your house. Washerman

Do you want me to take a picture? If I thought you would pay up I would prove it. I was all set to take you to court to recover the money, the only thing that saved you was that you didn't issue me with a receipt.Ironic really.
