Hi All, Just returned back from Northern Cyprus, Having a villa built in Alsancak. We are currently 14 months late with the build, almost complete just snagging to be finished off. There are 12 villa s being built, two of which are occupied as permenent residence, These two and ours are the only villas with builders electric at the moment, We have been told the bill for builders electric will be split three ways, As we will only be useing ours as a holiday home, is there any way of recording what our villa uses, i.e. a temporary metre, we know there is a shortage of metres, what has other villa owners done in this situation, Thanks for your help . Linda.

Linda Our development is on builders electric but we all have our own meters that were put in by our builder and these are then connected to the main meter. Perhaps you could ask you builder if he can install a meter until Kib-Tec can supply one.

Hiya Robbo / Linda We had the same problem ... the bill came to £1000 for all the villas and our protion did not realistically relate to our usage. On average our electric bill is around £40 per month when we are living in the villa. What we did with our builders, is calculated the number of weeks (equivalent) that we used the electric. We argued our case and the bill was agreed - we actually paid £60 in the end, the builders were demanding £300 ! We then took our sale of contract to the Kibtek office in Gine, with our ID etc, and paid for an electric meter to be installed in our name. It cost 540YTL and the electic is now in our name. we pay by standing order with Turk Bank ...no hassle!

Pipie you wouldn't normally be getting a bill in your name if it is on builder's rate. The builder's rate is 0.54ytl per unit which is approx 4 times the standard rate.

Hi there We have had "temporary" meters for about six months but there is now a query on how little electricity we use in our villa compared to others on site - we ARE incredibly careful. Now the builder is saying the meters are his and he wants to take them out and we will all share the bill. We are not happy to do this as others have usage more than three times that which we use. I understand you have purchased a meter - where do you actually go for this? do you have a phone number, contact name or can you please give us directions. Many thanks. Daisy

Pipie, Not necassarily. Check the rates that you are being charged if the have 4 lines, with unit costs between 17kr and 31kr per Kilo Watt Hour, then you're on normal rates. If its one figure, 50kr or more per Kilo Watt Hour, you're on builders rate.

Pipie if the bill is in your builder's name then I would say it is definitely builder's rate. We pay 0.54ytl per unit + 10% + 3.5% per month. Our site get's one overall bill, we all read our meters and work out our contribution based on this calculation. We then give the builder the money (as there are other units he pays for) and he then pays the bill. Our average monthly usage (2 people) is 285 units.

Joand jelly ./Tim thanks for help . Just need to explain I have only seen one bill (i know stupid am i ) as when we had handover we signed for 12 months for keyholding and billpaying , our complex manager pays bills and now 12 months are up we will now pay our bills ourselves . The one and only bill we have ever seen is alittle confusing there is a 0049 underneath okuyucu , 02 underneath tarife this bill was for AUGUST 07 . Would this be builders tarif ?
