Anyone noticed that Skype maybe abandoned, because when Ebay bought Skype (for 1.6billion) they somehow missed buying the Software which is till under the ownership of 'Inventors names '!Oops comes to mind. Apparently Ebay have said that it is a 'very serious' situation. So what would be the alternative to Skpye which I know many people in TRNC use to keep in touch with loved ones around the world>

voIP = Voice over Internet Protocol SKYPE is just a form of voIP I use Vonage for business calls - you can pay from 6 -19 GBP a month depending on your call plan and get free calls to up to 45 Countries. I hope the heck SKYPE doesn't close as we just got 3 Mobiles so as SKYPE users can call us on our mobile for nought ...

Voipbuster http://www.voipbuster.com/en/index.html Used them for years. Same principle, free internet to internet, small charges to landlines. Turkey PC to Uk landline 1 euro cent per minute. I speak regularly to family in Europe from my PC to their landlines for less than 1 euro per hour...

Brinsley, I'm only using a 512 extend Internet connection, & I use Skype all the time, both for Compurt-to Computer video calls, and calls to UK landlines & mobiles. My (student) Odd-job man uses it to ring his Mum in Nigeria. Calls are usually crystal clear, with very few problems nowadays. It might be worth installing the latest version of the Skype software, and checking that your firewall / security software aren't messing things up... I think that you can do similar stuff with Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live Messenger etc, but IMO you can't beat Skype. Regards, Keith.

I've been giving Google Talk a try. As usual some nights are better than others but I can usually have a pretty good chat to mum in UK without too many problems. I've found that if the person on the receiving end of skype calls has Talktalk as their ISP it can cause problems, as can using a webcam with microphone. I hope skype doesn't disappear as it still seems to be the best around

My Skype was suspended in May over a mix up in adding to my account, Euros instead of pounds. I managed to sort it out but nthe facility was suspended and I was told thier fraud squad was investigating. Despite several emails to them and my account being in credit for £11.50 I cannot get a response from them in any capacity. Does anyway know a UK address or UK phone num,ber for contact. I was considering issuing a small claims court procedure just to catch their attention, but cannot find any address or phone contact anywhere in the world, although it was suggested they operate from Luxembourg. Any contact details appreciated.

www.internetcalls.com http://www.smsdiscount.com used both a few years now. alot cheaper than skype and of course free calls to landlines in UK and many other countries, landline and mobiles free on some superdeals to some countries. i just top up with 10Euros,also you get over 100 days of free calls to certain numbers every time you top up. also on internetcalls.com they are giving away free in numbers. but you will need some 1 in the UK to register for you then they can get your free number,as if you try here it picks up your IP addres and tells you free numbers are not available in this part of the world. Handy to have a local UK number here so your friends and family can call a UK landline number here for free/or voip number. you can have 0161 / 020/ also birmingham number.and i think a north east number. sounds like im making some thing from this company,im not,its just a good all round service.

I do JUST that and get the same std msg to reset p/w So, I wrote to Customer Services , who promised a response in 48 hours .. over FIFTY days ago... |

I have now set up a new Skype account with a different name and that works ok, such a good service normally, shame that these conglomorates get a bad name for lack of customer care I suppose with millions on line all the time small fry mean nothing.

Washerman, According to your website it's 1.5p per min,not 1p as you stated and its 24ytl a month which you failed to mention as well. Why is that? http://www.ticproblemsolver.com/

We do several systems. That system includes equipment (wireless telephone) etc. You really are a pest Gooligan, but if you are going to persist in your spoiling tactics, at least educate yourself properly beforehand Washerman

Mainly use Sype and pay a couple of quid a month for unlimited calls to UK landlines. I have also got Tesco internet phone on my system, which is not too bad.
