Mongolian cuisine is generally considered to have a bland taste, primarily consisting of dairy products, meat, and animal fats. The most common rural dish is cooked mutton, often without any other ingredients. The most surprising cooking method is only used on special occasions. In this case, the meat (often together with vegetables) gets cooked with the help of stones, which have been preheated in a fire. This either happens with chunks of mutton in a sealed milk can, or within the abdominal cavity of a deboned goat. Some restaurants in East Asia, Europe, and North America offer a type of cuisine called "Mongolian barbecue." Their staff will stir fry all kinds of ingredients (typically of East Asian origin) in front of the customer on a large heated steel or stone plate.

you might have got confused.... Garry Monger's missus was going to start a restaurant, which would have been a "Mogerian" restaurant.... Wisely, Garry said no, as he was worried she'd eat all the stock....

Well, its not exactly mongolian food as described by No 1 Doyen, however it was still a very enjoyable experience, nothing was cooked within the abdominal cavity of a deboned goat thats for sure!

I went to Zone Restaurant to sample Mongolian food? Well it's not really Mongolian food - not a YAK in sight. The food is cooked in a Mongolian style. It was OK - staff were attentive and the lady Maitre d' was excellent.
