I think you are referring to what we called O levels that you could achieve at 16 and A levels at age 18, of course in Scotland we also had highers which were mid level at 17. What that equates to these days I have no understanding. We had the GCSE General Certifcate of Secondary Education which were the O and A levels and for those a little weaker there were CSE's (Thats what I got most of but then I never was an epedemic, pandemic, acadamy oh you know what I mean !!!)

The exams they were sitting were International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). These are invigilated by the British Council in Cyprus so are controlled and marked externally to the school. In UK students tend to gain the certificate by doing modules over the course of 2 years rather than having to remember everything for a final exam, as in Cyprus. Congratulations to all the students and the school for an outstanding set of results. My daughter added 3 As to the A* she gained last year. The next set of results are due out on 27th August (different exam board) so, hopefully, more good results to come.

As the proprietor of Sunny Lane I would personally like to congratulate all of our graduating students who took their exams and also a few of our Year 10 students who opted to take some of their exams a year early. They all worked extremely hard and their IGCSE results is proof of their hard work. This is a fantastic achievement for our students so well done to you all and you should all feel very proud of what you have achieved. This of course would not have been possible without the help of our dedicated teaching staff who taught and coached our students through their exams and the results say it all so thank you to our Teachers. I am also a very proud parent as at 2am this morning my daughter Jade also got her results 2 A's, 1 A* and a B - well done Jade I am very proud of you. Hopefully your next lot of results on the 27th August will be just as good....fingers crossed!

I am very confident that our students will again obtain good results next year as all leaving teachers have been replaced with new fully qualified teachers, all with years of experience. All your postings seem to be negative against the School, so whoever you are please refrain from voicing your negativity on this thread as this was started by a parent to congratulate our students on their fantastic achievements, do not take this away from them for your own selfish gain. Maybe you would like to congratulate our students which would be the decent thing to do.

RE msg 11, aripointer: (...) I wonder what the results will be next year now all the good teachers have left? AP (...) => 1 : I'm not a teacher (neither in Holland nor in the UK), so I can't judge the quality of the management and the staff of Sunny Lane School. 2 : Just my opinion: what a sad bunch of miserable Brits on this board are trying to kill the school. Cowardish, anonymous remarks, never substantiated, just gossip. Bah. Good luck to you, Sunny Lane School management/staff. Value the idiots here for what they are - don't react.

Some well deserved good news about Sunny Lane (for a change). Well done teachers and pupils and bully to those who always do their very best to discredit the school. These results speak for themselves and I have no doubt that the school will continue to do well for their pupils in years to come.

Hans From what I can ascertain the teachers that wanted to teach did so out of inherent belief but those that were as capable could not survive on not being paid! A moral dilemma! Richard

Message 12 Negativity seems to be your BUZZ word. Negativity was the reason you gave for the dismissal/sacking of the teachers? What qualifications...if any do the new teachers have? It would be nice to know the truth please. AP

Aripointer, I believe you were one of the teachers who RESIGNED from their post at the School, therefore, you already know the truth about what really happened so why do you keep posting these messages which is getting you nowhere. The new teachers recruited are of no concern to you, but if Parents wish to see our Teachers qualifications, old and new, then they are more than welcome to make an appointment with the School. As I have said before do not use this thread to air your NEGATIVE thoughts. These students have worked hard for the grades they got so please let them enjoy the praise that is being given without you sticking your nose in. If you are an ex-teacher, which I believe you are, you should be totally ashamed for trying to take the glory away from these students.

Message 27 No I am not an a teacher who RESIGNED. I live in the UK. The teachers in question were asked to clear their desks by 9am the following morning by letter. In my book that is a SACKING not a RESIGNATION. Why do you not tell the TRUTH to the real reason why you sacked the teachers. I am not making negative comments but seeking clarity. As I have posted next years results will be very interesting. AP

Aripointer, we did not sack those teachers, they all resigned and quite frankly those who resigned know the truth so the School does not have to justify itself to an unknown person! For your information, all but one of the excellent IGCSE exam results the students have just received are in subjects that were not delivered by the resigning teachers but by those who are still in our employment, so I can of course confidentally say that next years results WILL be just as good. I would ask politely that you now stop your negative postings on this thread as your comments are no doubt upsetting our students, parents and the many good teachers still in our employment.

RE msg 29, Hayran: Don't waste words on some bl**dy Brits of a very wrong kind on this board. They're not worth your explanation. This "aripointer" (msg 28) lives in England (he/she says), is 79 years of age (he/she says) - so what does he/she care and subconsequently what do you care?! He's winding you up and (with obviously a hidden agenda) tries to damage the school, the staff and you. "Ignore idiots" is your best policy. Good luck with Sunny Lane School and kind regards!

Hi Sheila, Daniel is at work with me today and when I told him that Yasmin said a big hello he went a bright shade of red and then asked if Yasmin can come over to play? If they ever come over for a visit, please get in touch so we can arrange for the kids to get together. Say hello to the girls from us all. Hayran
