done mine this morning debs

here is a run down take 2 copies of everything you might not need it but take them.

2 copies of passports which include 2 copies of the old resident stamp last one you had done.

copies of your bank stuff here and uk

copy of your contract with all papers including kdv if paid one copy for you 1 for partner hubby

copy of mukhtar letter which has to have second signature on it

thats it oh and they are asking to see visa slips if you go south mine was full so said i needed a new one but they still can call it on computer so no problem.

get there early we waited an hour from 8 oclock but were done by 9.30 there is a number system just get one from the same office

big queue on leaving so book early

then its a 3 week wait before collecting in lefkosia

hope this helps no photos or stamps required no photos taken

Popped over to immigration in Lefkosa yesterday and they have now opened a room as a waiting room, nice and airy it was too!!! So no more hanging around in the corridor!

Hi there, Re residency renewal, location Bahceli....

Can anyone who has recently done it advise please...

Does the renewal procedure require the paperwork to be placed through the Girne police station and then the permit / passport stamp collected from Lefkosha 3 weeks later, as we did with the first time of obtaining it? Or is it done directly by taking the paperwork / pink booklet to the Lefkosha office in person?

best regards

Always the first point of cals is at Girne Police Station and then 3 weeks later you collect from Lefkosa

TonyE

You are probably better leaving 4-5 weeks between going to the Police Station and Immigration, especially as there is a Bayram at the end of this month.

Maybe even longer, its 6 weeks since I did the paperwork at Girne. I have been twice last week to Lefkosa and the paperwork has not come back. I have been told to leave for another 2 weeks just to make sure as they are very busy

Went on Friday after doing paperwork at Girne 5 weeks ago still not arrived, waited 2 hours to find this out even though they ask for your name on arrival.

Better not be the case. Did my submission to Girne Police two weeks ago however, Nicosia will not post date yearly stamp and as I'm leaving a few days later after the expired date, end of November, I feel another stealth tax/fine coming on!

Richard I left the country twice in between applying for renewal and collecting it. No problem at all. Got new 90 day visa stamp each time and no questions asked.

Went to the mukhtar, paid 20TL (couple) - there must be 2 mukhtar's official stamps on his letter(s).

Proceeded to Girne Police station - arrived 10:45, walked in past the waiting queue of people to the counter to be given number - this is normal, even though those queueing may object, as everyone seemed so fraught!

Received ticket No. 30 - got to the counter to have our documents processed at 11:25 and finished this shambolic rigmarole at 11:47.

We were asked to produce our 'in & out' dockets - fortunately we had them with us + I'd actually made 2 copies for each of us for them (in case needed).

I also made 2 copies of our marriage certificate - 1 is now required (each).

This is our 5th 'go' - we plan to go to Lefkosia around the end of the month for the next session of this annual farce.

Girne Police Station (for immigration and import purposes) working hours: 0830 to 1200 Hrs.

Who's second signature?

What did you mean by 'copy of mukhtar letter which has to have SECOND signature on it '?

My Muhta's letter already had another signature on it so that was easy, and they never asked me for the inns and out, they have it on their computers

Msg 21

You have to produce an original Muhtar's letter, i.e. you have to get a new one every year which the Muhtar signs then you take that letter to one or two other village elders to sign. The Muhtar should be able to direct you to the other signatories. In Esentepe, the Muhtar has a preprinted form which has spaces for 2 additional signatures so we always make sure we get the 2 additional signatures to be on the safe side.

Called the office at lefkosa this afternoon - its been 7 weeks since we did our renewal at Girne Polic Station, and the paperwork has not been sent from Girne Police yet. I was told to try on Monday as they are busy.

Before you have a wasted journey please call 0392 6111016 and a very nice lady will take your passport number and tell you if the paperwork has been sent through. Its saves a journey for you

eileen I went to the Muhta opposite Post Office in girne his form was already printed and I asked him about another signature and he showed me that his already had another on it, so simple just one trip, and yes it has to be a new one each year.

Now that IS useful information, and I'm sure everyone who didn't already know will be extremely grateful - many thanks, Kazbo!
