The staff all look so unhappy. The time it takes to complete a simple transaction takes for ever. I may be wrong, but are there any other banks that has seats for customers conducting business? That must tell you a few things! They make so many mistakes, blame everyone else and offer the lowest interest rates. Am I in the minority?

pinkchilli, you are so right. i use the alsancak branch only because is next to us and i must say they are useless. every time you walk in you know it will take you forever to be served. i know that they read cyprus 44 and they may consider the idea to change their system. (pigs are feed and ready to fly). guido

Posted before on this subject. Unbeleivably slow, staff need more training and took weeks to get my money when closing the account due to total intransigence. Iktisat, Creditwest and Garanti all much better and have better rates of interest.

Who would smile when you work at Turkbank..?! P.S. Still don't understand why they print THREE sheets for everything and then throw away one sheet - they obviously only NEED the two sheets... The feared NegNick should pay them a visit and then rate them.

Hi Linda, thanks for your response. I have tried to get issues sorted, but, alas, to no avail. My problems are mainly to do with the waiting time, not you. Seniha is so miserable. She always answers the phone (when someone is ringing the bank) when she has a customer. The staff behind the cashiers seem to be so busy looking at their screens. The rest are fairly pleasant. Why does nearly every transaction involve the cashier speaking to their supervisor, or getting on the telephone to someone else. Hans, regarding your comment about three sheets of paper, then throwing away one of them. Some improvements have been made recently. They now only have two sheets, but guess what.... They still throw one away! Boom Boom. This is true. PS. How was your capuccino at Paparus, and why were you wearing a scarf?

I've used Turkbank since I came here 6 years ago. Had problems transferring account from Gazimagusa to Girne and the waiting time was terrible. Improved no end when they brought the numbers system in. I now use the branch near Poltan Palace, don't often wait more than a few minutes. Interest rates could be better but unless you have all your eggs in one basket, the reliability must count for something. ps I've found that if you use a little Turkish when speaking to the clerks, it helps create a more pleasant ambience.

I went to this excuse for a bank last Monday afternoon to use the A T M. Not only was it shut, it was LOCKED. There was no way that a card was going in. This, of course was after the bank was shut. I repaired to Mardos for a tub of ice cream and sat outside eating it. During this procedure SEVEN people drove in to use the A T M. All, of course left empty handed. I therefore ask this lady Linda Roy, why was there no money for their customers and as the bank could care no less for them, what is this ladys real job at the bank?

I am afraid that Turkbank are not customer driven, all staff look on customers as a nuisance and as for data protection ,non existent.Very bad interest rate and very bad service, have moved on .

The Alsancak branch ATM wasn't working on Sunday or Tuesday either! They didn't even have the decency to put a sign on it explaining to customers unlike Iktisatbank. At least they put a sign on and in English!

Hi Linda. As you've taken some interest in this topic, perhaps you could enlighten your superiors as to some of the feelings/comments regarding the posts above. If Turkbank have taken steps to provide English (or in your case, Scottish ) speaking reps, it seems such a shame that this benefit has not been rewarded with a loyal UK customer base. Can you explain exactly what is involved with a customer trying to complete, say two simple tasks; 1. Withdrawing cash in TL from a Timed account. 2. Closing a Current account. The reason I ask, is because, If Turkbank, insist that every button pressed on a keyboard at the cahiers desk has to be monitored by someone else, this may explain the painfully slow delays. Perhaps in years gone by, banking was a pleasant experience, where someone interacted with a member of staff, somewhat similar to going to a bakery in the UK in the 1940's. Not that I was even born!

Hi, been with Turkbank Karalangolu branch for a year and a half now. Staff very helpful, waits are in proportion to the queue size. Delays through slow system response yes this is not too good and needs attention, but what the hell, I ai'nt in a rush anyway. Try learning a few words of Turkish, after my stumbling "goodmorning how are you" all of the tellers are more than friendly towards me. When withdrawing a fairly large sum, and on being asked what is was for, I said a party rather than the truth of house repairs, the next time I visited I was asked by the supervisor if I wanted money for another party and could they all come this time. I think the situation generally is what you make it. best regards TonyE

Turkbank Alsancak were top this morning. First in line, no queue. They served me early. Lovely smiles, conversation about the lady's daughter; my son. Efficient service. A pleasure. Sometimes they are too busy. Anyone would struggle to cope. On Monday, I was in the 50s on the ticket and they were still on 28. Some of the transactions are not easy and involve numerous accounts. Yes, I've been bored waiting there for more than an hour sometimes, but mostly my impression of Turkbank is good.

I, with enough money can buy almost anything I want; Friends, love, happiness and health. But one thing I can't yet buy is TIME. So to me, that is one thing that is very valuable. The above is not a serious statement, just something I read somewhere. What TurkBank should realise is that most ex-pats have accounts at more than one bank. Therefore comarisons are easily made. What I cannot comprehend is why exactly the same transaction at TurkBank takes SO much longer than at another bank? I'm convinced that every keystroke by a cashier is monitored, before the next screen appears!

Jock Who is moaning. There was a question asked. The answers are simple . They are awful and a waste of space. They do not understand customer relations. They certainly do not make you feel wanted. This is a fact not a moan. A fact given as an answer to Message 1. Try the other 3 banks I mentioned and see the differance.

Hi everyone, we quite enjoy watching the folks in the banks, its so cool in there, and the staff have us in fits of laughter after we go out as they are so 'unattached' to any one! Just watching a cleaner at work in the bank the last time we were over was entertaining in its self, talk about slow, she had a bottle of alcohol cleaning the keyboards, think she must have drunk a bottle before she started as nobody, just nobody could be that slow. We thought at one time she had died and wrigamortus (cant spell it) had set in!! lol

Linda, only problem I find with Turkbank is their internet banking, approx 6mths ago an update stopped us being able to pay electric/phone bills online, living at Tatlisu I now have to go to Karakum evry month just to pay bills. Is this problem going to be sorted? if not I will also be closing myt account and going elsewhere. What is the point of having internet banking that does not let you do anything other than transfer monies between your own accounts?

Knowing Cypriot banks' propensity for mortgage lending on foreigners' fully paid up properties, I find myself unable to trust any of them with my money. Bearing in mind the general financial crisis, there surely must come a day of reckoning when these banks will be forced to call in these loans, or go bankrupt. For this reason, and the fact that their ATM machines were seldom working, I reluctantly closed my a/c with TurkBank, although I found their staff always pleasant and obliging. As for interminable waiting/queues - this seems to be a feature of most banks here.

Would never 'in a month of sundays use this bank again'. I had a dealing with someone who used to work there, this person said yes, I can give you xxx amount of interest, this person left and guess what we received? The lower rate of interest! Talking to the manager at the karakum branch did nothing to help so we pulled our money out and left. I have been back once to exchange some money, stupidly thought it would be quick as I was passing anyway, got a ticket and sat only to find that someone local who came in after me and collected a ticket after me, ended up before me so when I politely pointed this out the cashier at least had the decency to look embarrassed, I was then seen next! Go to TEB, Iktisatbank and credit west .. far better service and polite and friendly staff.

No problems with either Linda or Francoise but after these last few days of wishing to add another signatory to our communal maintenance account and having the said account transferred from K'loo to A'cack I am seriously thinking of changing to one of the other banks Iktisatbank or Limassol. The best I can say about today is that it was horrendous! And we are not out of the woods yet!

Not like UK where if they make a mistake they will refund No not this one. Anyway we are changing. Yes I agree the English speaking staff will do thier best but they are up against it x |

I have banked with Turkbank for 5 years at their head office branch in Girne. Never had any problems and always find the cashiers and manager very helpfull. My Turkish isn't that good but I always get through my transactions pretty easily. From time to time I have to send money to United States - it always gets there same day for withdrawal at other end. I'm easily impressed.
