L.A. Hotel has to have the best beach around the Lapta area, also they have indoor & outdoor pools plus jacuzzi. Rooms I've heard are a bit on the basic side (need updating), but the food, staff and service make up for that. They have been having lots of offers recently, so its worth enquiring about those. And you are right on the end of the 'Lapta Strip', so you are only walking distance to lots of bars and very nice restaurants. Alao just around the corner (on a Sat) is the huge Chateau Lambousa market, thats well worth a visit. Excellent choice !!

WE've stayed at the LA for the last 6 years and going again late September. Yes, the rooms are in need of an update but are clean and quite spacious. There is an indoor and outdoor pool in the hotel plus another at their private beach - where else can you find three freshwater pools and a private sandy beach? The restaurants have diminished a bit over the last couple of years but a number are still running. There is an italian restaurant and Haci Ali hotel nearby for good food. Otherwise catch the dolmus bus into Kyrenia in the evening, eat there and get a taxi back - they're not too expensive! I love the area, mountains and Lapta village within walking distance, and not too built up. Go there via Larnaca and avoid the delay through stopping in Turkey. We use DirectTraveller who pick up by car at Larnaca airport. http://www.frankandjoan.com/news/2009/aug.htm is an interesting website by a couple living in Lapta. Hope you enjoy the LA as much as we have.

We've found the dolmus busses get a bit scarce and erratic after about 7.00pm. Taxis are plentiful and compared to UK quite cheap. Car hire is around £20 per day - not too bad either. Places to go - first stop Kyrenia (Girne) shops, bars, restraunts. The harbour is wonderful, lined with restaurants and full of mostly traditional gulet boats. All this overlooked by the enormous castle. Bellapais abbey and St Hilarion castle are worth a look. Karpas peninsula is a long drive but is different. Gurzelyurt is an interesting area. The other side of the mountains is flat and less ineresting but there's always Nicosia is you enjoy getting lost around unsignposted streets!

Hi Dereny, All these posts will give you a good idea of the areas bars and restuarants. My favourite for lunch has to be the Hut though, just up the road from the LA. My various guests frequently want to go back especially for the 'specials', 'cheesy chips' and profiteroles. Personaly, I usually choose the Ploughmans. Reminds me of pub lunches in England. Chris and Sue will give you a warm welcome. Wherever you go..enjoy.

The Royal Hotel has a great private beach and pool along the Lapta main road that beats the LA hands down, okay you have to pay 10L if your not staying at the hotel but its well worth it for comfort and views, the pool is lovely with beach bars and places to eat and the sandy beach is great , with sunbeds and changing rooms.
