When we were over in July, Ruth did not look her self, as she is usually bubbly. Hope that things are ok for her at the Waterfront as she is a wonderful cook. Very reasonable prices, lol

This place had everything going for it..... It should have been in the same league as Silver Rocks and Scruples?...... methinks rather too much dabbling from the upper echelons. Please prove me wrong.

Hans whoever emailed Nige I find it very very sad knowing the work this lovely family put into it. Just tried to pop into see Ruth but the place was busy so didnt stay. We were offered it before Ruth and Tony but declined the offer. Ruth and Tony brought so much life to the place. Dizzy I have to agree with you saw them Sunday and Ruth was not herself. Im just so very sad for them xx

RE msg 14: Dear Lilly, it is a very good and old habit to check and re-check so called "news" - especially in the case of Northern Cyprus' bulletin boards where rumours and gossip often rule. Next rumour and not worth to check: "It is true that Guido's will not close down?" But certainly worth to check and re-check: "Is it true that Guido's will close down." In my opinion many here on this board shouldn't jump to conclusions after just a rumour.

Are they now homeless? does the business go with accomodation? It has shown on her body language that things were not right over 6weeks ago. Hope they get another place, and Lilli it is a good job that you did not take up that offer. All the best to them, they will survive I expect, as usually something transpires from something like this.

I've been in the game myself in TRNC, Tony Ruth & Amey are what I would call good freinds. Sorry but if Gorden thinks that the WATER FRONT has taken off because off him he has made a massive mistake. I've heard that he will reopen within two weeks. "Gorden" as normall rumours are abound on this fourum please indicate what you plan with regard to the WATER FRONT in the future. Sorry but I do not think that you will get any ( sorry many ) British customers in the future. Having said that good luck for the future TSC

Have you heard the song, Gordon is a moron, well it must be this Gordon that the song was written for. He has closed down a successful business expecting to fill Ruth's shoes. Not only has he lost the rent from that business he will lose everything as most of the Ruth's customers should boycott the place. The chances of him getting new tenants is very slim after treating Ruth in that shameful way

Yes I am the Gordon of Lambousa. I am perplexed at the speculation the dissolution of the partnership with Ruth and Tony has aroused. Suffice to say, from some of the comments and somewhat scurrilous remarks made, it is evident that the more vitriolic posters are not abreast of the facts and are speculating at best. As I consider that this is a private matter between those actually concerned I intend to attempt to keep confidence on this matter. That said, I consider it particularly cowardly for the poster "Bandwagon" to question both mine and the general mass of my compatriots' integrity while hiding behind anonymity.

Gordon, it is obvious from those who go to the waterfront, that Ruth would not want to voluntarily close down a successful business. The instigator must be you. I do however have to agree that not all Turkish Cypriots are of the same ilk

Ah I see, but all these calling of christian names on this site, every one knows every one, lol Well Gordon, things happen in business, that sometimes are not very welcome, lets hope things settle down, but, and its a big but, folks do follow the people they know, a lesson I learned a very long time ago. It is in difficult times for all to so lets hope something good transpires for all concerned.

LG I can understand your defensive stance. I think it's the 'stop digging a bigger hole' one. It doesn't help me gauge the true situation though, and like a Dragons Den decision whether to invest in you or your business, "I'm out"

The general concensus is that they were in fact "booted out". The owner has apparently tried to re-employ Tony's co-Chef. It may get a few tourists from now until the end of the month but the majority of the local expat population will I feel demonstrate with their feet. Can't see the doors remaining open post tourist season unless the other Gordon (Ramsey) turns up for the special "TRNC Kitchen Niightmares" series. Sure we can expect to see Ruth and Tony opening something new, somewhere soon. Good luck to them both!

Well I for one will give Gordon the benefit of the doubt and give the Waterfront a try if it does re-open as I was pretty disappointed with the food and service on the one occasion that I did go there in June this year.

| Why must these things be dragged all over the internet??? Partnerships, wether they be professional or intimate are nobodies business but the folk that are directly involved...to have this splattered over the forum is just plain spiteful imo!! Business partnerships disolve all the time for copious amounts of reasons...so, even if you have all the facts...which many people don't...keep them to yourselves....you wouldn't want your business or private life hung out to dry on an internet forum, would you???!!! | Ruth, Amy and Tony, It will be very said to see you go from this resturant as you made it was it is. The food was great the people running it were friendly, helpful and would do anything for you. If what has been put on here is true im very sorry to here this. As people on here have said you are well known and well liked and im sure if you open something else it will be as good or better. |

Any news on the Waterfront? Is it re-opening, will there be a free buffet if/when it does? Have Ruth & Tony found new premises? Is Gordon a moron? It's unbelievable that the REAL reason, whatever it is, has not materialised.

We have eaten at the Farmhouse and the Waterfront and been disappointed both times, so I'll be interested in trying the food at the Waterfront again under different management. I have no idea why the people involved left, but I personally have always found Gordon to be pleasant and professional and cant see any reason at all why his nationality should be brought in to it, let alone anything else. I'm sure that there were reasons for this split (which probably only those involved will ever know), but as usual I see people are quick to speculate. I'm sure if a place is well-run with good food etc, then it will do well regardless. I wish good luck to anyone who opens a business here - it certainly is needed, especially in view of many of the comments that often appear on this board.

Daisy Daisy You are absolutely right. However, in the "Goldfish Bowl" everyone speculates, EVEN if they are aware of the TRUTH. To give you an example: If the Waterfront under the old management were selling "Cow Pie" with Whiskas, I'm sure we should be entitled to know. Obviously that was not the reason, but it may just go to prove, when someone wants to know something so desperately, even lies will do. PS. I have nothing against the previous management, nor Gordon, nor Whiskas!

PLEASE ADVISE WHERE THE STUMBLE IN IS? There is no smoke without fire if they have been forced out of the Waterfront, the question is WHY!, if they had good customers and a solid clientel, a good following, then maybe they were forced out by greedy individuals, who only saw pound signs in their eyes and think that profit comes before satisfaction of customers and nothing to with the intrest and thought of their customers RD
