Just supposing.. we were to move to TRNC and supposing we bought a really nice new car which cost us a bit more than we wanted to pay, and supposing say in two years we went back to the UK what hassle is involved doing it t'other way. I know its not cost effective to bring one from the UK but if you were to pack up and drive it home??

Dont tell the DVLA you are exporting it,just tell them it is off the road when the road tax is due,if you do go back just tax it again.

Sorry meant while we are in TRNC we buy a car. What are the problems involved in taking it back to the UK Why do the 'brits' that leave sell the cars they bought whilst on the Island, does it cost to much to take them to the UK?

Ok if you buy a car in an inflated market place TRNC the usual 60% depreciation after three years that would have occurred in the UK will seem even worse £15,000 car Uk value after 3 years worth £6000 Same car bought in TRNC £21000 because of tax the UK value is still £6000 after 3 years TRNC value ?? its a strange market The car to bring to the TRNC is one you have owned for over 5 years with an engine size under 1400cc

Hi,the cost to return a car back to the UK is approx £1000-£1250 depending on courier and you then have to pay 10% import duty and then vat currently at 15% plus £55 registration, this is not viable as cars here are far more expensive. eg a £10k car taken home would owe nearly £14k and would sell for at best £7k here privately it would sell for approx £8500 plus...leave it here...cheers T
