Foreigners have very few outlets to express their feelings about injustice against them as a group. Until now I thought that Cyprus44 was on our side and was allowing us to display our dismay whenever they were treated wrongly, for example jailing Jez the hairdresser in such a seemingly unjust way. Cancelling a thread with an excuse that there MIGHT be a court case means that no one can comment on a possible injustice even if the Police wrongly imprison someone and they have to wait perhaps months or years for that person to be released if they are found innocent. For example, page 5 of the Midweek Cyprus Today reports on a man who threatened to kill his wife, actually names the man despite their obviously being an "impending court case" - the excuse used by Cyprus44 to end an important discussion. Sorry but what a load of old cobblers.

Earlybird.....you are mistaken if you think that Cyprus 44 is a forum to right wrongs. Cyprus 44 is a forum to PROMOTE property and tourism in NC,and it is sponsored by people with a vested interest in accentuating the positives and keeping quiet about the negatives. Having said that,as long as you accept this bias and" play by the rules",this is still an enjoyable forum to use.

We were all having a little fun on a thread, and whoooosh, it was taken off. Cyprusairsoft got a telling off by the 'he who must be obeyed brigade', still it was good fun whilst it lasted. Should all do more nonsence ones, keeps us all on a level, stops the serious ones from commiting 'harikari', lol

Quote - For what it is worth, there will be a court case tomorrow and anything posted on this board could have an impact on the outcome. Quote AJ You are saying, in effect, that a Judge and the legal system of this fine Isle can be negatively swayed by a few well intensioned people saying what they think on a simple forum. I think not Sir! A rather silly and negative comment to make! In my humble opinion.

Back in 2005 we were also being told that we could not comment about property problems because there were 'pending court cases'. You would have to have your head in the sand not to know what has happened since then especially for those who bought in the last 4 years who if they had been allowed to be forewarned may have avoided losing everything. It certainly did not benefit the home buyers that we stopped commenting and instead waited for the old government to sort things out. Hopefully the new government will listen to us about the treatment that Jez is getting and will do something to stop this injustice. I think you are pre judging that this current government wants to silence a justifiable anger. In a way it is insulting to a party who have been elected to correct the wrongs that have been done in the past 5 years to say that they want to shut down freedom of speech.

Perhaps AJ realised that in the now closed thread he had said a little too much and was worried about the consequences of that, maybe as a moderator he ought to have thought a little before putting his version of things on a public forum.

To all forgive me if I'm interfearing, but I think AJ. is actualy crying out to you to say; Please dont jump to conclusion, lets make sure what this is about first, then act if we want to. Which I think is very senseable, I dont understand why everyone is attacking him. Sometimes we can all speak at a spur of moment without thinking straight and regret later, I,for one fell into that situation couple of months back on another thread, So please stop beaching off one another and consentrate on what the actual threads are about and dont get so personal.lol Regards

Yorgozlu, I sincerely hope you are correct. I have read and reread AJ's short missive, Msg 9, and I cannot for the life off me come to the same conclusion. He has made a considered statement - Quote: For what it is worth, there will be a court case tomorrow and anything posted on this board could have an impact on the outcome. Unquote - where is he "crying out" I would accept that line 7 of your post may be correct and would therefore ask that AJ clarify.

*I do not normally get involved in debates like this but when a person opens a salon and takes in customers and tells them that he is still waiting to get his paperwork sorted out and has the shop windows plastered with 'opening up soon' banners then that tells me that he is working illegally. I will add that I do not care one iota what and how people live their lives, if someone wants to work illegally then that is their decision and they will have to sort out any problems that arise.* Perhaps AJ would like to elaborate on the above statement he made too, he may be required to in the court case. What happened to innocent until proven guilty.

denflolad, court cases need to be conducted with decorum, not with a bunch of hot heads heating up the ether with speculative comments, usually the subject of which they know very little about. FYI, I once made a posting on a forum prior to a court case, it was reported back and I received warnings from a lawyer re possible slander accusations / action that could /would be made by the defendant against me, claiming my words were affecting the outcome of the trial. This would have put the outcome of the case at risk and damaged the prosecution's chance of winning the case. TonyE

Re message 22, they were AJ,s words not mine. I feel in that post he was implying guilt and as a moderator should keep those type of remarks to himself, not close the thread because others may have a different opinion from his own. It smacks of do as I say not as I do.

RE msg 24, hattkins: (...) as a moderator should keep those type of remarks to himself (...) => Moderators/Admins delete/moderate offending (the rules) posts on this board. There is NO rule telling Admins not to give their personal opinion - and rightfully so. I suggest you read this: http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/rules.asp (it's about time you do it, Madam).
