| Following the recent spate of burglaries in the area, I have nothing but praise for Lapta police. Having been burgled twice since last October, it was good to know that on both occasions the perpetrators were caught. Our first burglars are now serving 6 years in Nicosia jail and we even managed to get one or two of our belongings back. No idea what happened to the thirty or so other items stolen! We wait with interest to see the outcome when the gang caught for our second burglary go to court. |

| During our first visit to Lapta, about 4 years ago, we were involved in a motoring accident. A young policeman arrived within minutes and, I tell no lie, he was more like a social worker, you couldn't meet a nicer, more caring guy. I had always had visions of that film, "Midnight something" about a Turkish prison. He put to bed all those fears. His way of asking us to go to the police sataion was "Would we like to call in for a cup of tea" and if it was too much trouble that night then call by for a tea and a chat in the morning. The way it came over was totally genuine; me and my family couldn't quite get over how kind he was. And he was just the same when we went there the next day, even though we could see he was rushed off his feet, he still went out of his way to be considerate. From something our car hire guy said, I think he was just as kind to the young lad who caused the accident; he'd wrecked his pride and joy and was totally sorry; I think he just got a ticking off. |
