Dep[arting through Ercan Airport on 6 August we found all the Duty Free shops closed.Anyone know why they were closed and more importantly are they open again?

What time of day was it?



Last time I did the 5am Istanbul the shops were not open, too early.

departed through ercan on the 2nd aug 5am flight duty free opened at 4.15 am

We had friends who came through on the 4th & found the same. They were on an afternoon flight so cant have been too early!!!!

yeah shops were open when we went through a few weeks ago , was there an airport strike ? i think there was something along these lines a few weeks ago .

There was a strike around that time.



We had friends who came through on the 12th and bought us home some duty frees and said all the shops were open. Their flight was 7.30am.

My friends smoke and bought 400 L&B kingsize for 47ytl. Dont know if thats cheap or not as I dont smoke.

Cigs are very cheap at Ercan D.F. Works out at around £1.60 - £1.80 for 20, depending on where you buy them. They are also the 'real thing' unlike those you buy at supermarkets in TRNC.
