Hi, I think our pool motor seems to have gone, does anyone have any idea if its likely to be fixable, is it worth it, or how much it should cost to replace?

Thanks,

C

Chezzi

There are many things that could be wrong and it may be possible to repair...it may be that the motor is ok and it may be something else.. please give us a call for a free estimate with no obligation.

Have you checked the 13 amp fuse in the plug?

If OK, it could simply be the starter unit in the box on top of the motor - cheap to replace!

Hi chezzi,

Depends what area you're in,

on your profile, it's UK.

Every area in TRNC will have a few pump repair centres.

Post your area, ie Lapta, the local ex-pats will soon let you know the good repairers.

Good luck,

Navek

Having spent good money on three repair jobs on my pool pump in as many months i bit the bullet and replaced it with a new one (220 euros) at the same time i fitted an anti surge unit and touch wood there has been no problem since . that was two years ago.

As fitting a new one its a very very simple DIY job.

Hippo,

I would agree with your statement "...fitting a new one its a very very simple DIY job. " with the proviso that the replacement pump needs to be the same make (and probably model) as the original.

Because of different threaded connector types, and differing placement of inlet / outlet ports, it is rather more of a job to fit a different make / model.

Probably not beyond the capability of a competent DIYer, with a little study and thought, but I would suggest that anyone contemplating the job tries to get an exact match with the original.

If the original was one of the inferior types that gives a lot of trouble (and I'm not going to start a row by naming one! - your pump supplier will tell you which ones they are...) then you may be well advised to go for a different type, with the complications that I mentioned above. Of course, they aren't really complications to a pool professional, it's all in a day's work for them - just to us mortals
