My wife and two of her family are supposedly flying to Manchester on flight YK0061,they have been told that because of strike action the flight as been canceled, it may go tomorow. Why are they doing their best to destroy their livelyhoods, what will happen in future is we will fly Turkish Airlines, The sad part of it is my wife as just spoken to mother of four who rented a villa for two weeks and has spent all their holiday money, nowhere to go no money for hotel food or anything and as of now no recompense from KTHY no food voucher or even a cup of coffee brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Sheila, The site only seems to give the current day, try in the morning :-( According to the live arrivals/departures, not a lot happening at Ercan today. Maybe the info is not being updated due to industrial action. Navek

| An update on the situation is they have been told unofficially that they will fly tomorrow morning at 1am also people have been given meal vouchers, plus they are trying to get the British Consul to try and find accomodation for those who have nowhere to stay and no means to pay for anywhere. | The flight update information for Ercan and Istanbul SG + Dalaman is useless even before the strike in June I was trying to track an arrival and departure on the same day Luton ok Birmingham ok their own system The other airports gave no true picture one flight had been officially rescheduled at the start of the season due to arrive at 6pm not 9pm as shown on Ercan & Dalamon as was the old schedule. The Istanbul SG only updated Turkish Airlines The system seems to be an international generic as two weeks later the Birmingham flight was still showing as a 9pm arrival not 6pm as the rescheduled time for the season I would sumise that the system relies on a data down load feed that is not in real time always a problem when you outsource |

According to flightstats the only two flights to leave were Turkish Airlines. Istanbul arrivals showed an Atlasjet flight from Ercan on time

I'm glad I've chosen Larnaca this time. They really don't help themselves to thrive in the TRNC do they ?

Strikes happen at Larnaca as well. Some friends once spent 48 hours stranded there because of strike action.

12:05 H9501 ISTANBUL EXPECTED 1241 I presume this is the Pegasus flight into Stanstead It looks as if its left Istanbul SG and therefore Ercan Its scheduled for departure @12:45 that will be a bit of a crus on and off with a 4 minute turn around As to using Larnaca apparently the South don't strike on a Saturday we were in Paphos son and wife were due to fly out on the Friday strike so a few hours waiting at the airport they returned to us and were flown out of Larnaca on the Saturday this was a week after the London bommings

| Just spoken with Hetin and the strike will end at Midnight tonight, I asked because of the backlog of people will this cause delays, his reply was that your airpline will contact you, dont wait for them chase them and the Airport up, many thanks for the info, will have to wait until tomorrow and maybe navek will have a link for me. | People on our complex at Tatlisu, independent travellers, eventually had bus arranged this lunchtime out of Ercan which did drop offs at various locations along the coast back to their apartments. They too have been told they may be going at 1am instead so to return this evening. |

Hi all, The TRNC reminds me of the Uk in the 70's strikes for nothing, holding the government to ransom. It took a strong woman to sort them out. Is there a Maggie Thatcher in the TRNC are woman even allowed to enter politics? It would be interesting to hear a womans thoughts on this. The butlers wife

Had a phone call from Tom in the UK he has asked me to post this as he is not near a computer at the moment. The strike is only affecting CTA at the moment, he is advising allowing 3 hours for check in to cope with the back log. I am sure he will be on later with all the latest news

My daughter should have been on the 12.30 Manchester to Ercan which was cancelled. It should be leaving 6.45am tomorrow morning now. Many people on that flight have booked to go to another destination/country. We are booked with them on Tuesday, hope that flight isn't cancelled too.

Msg 24 Thanks Teresa for publishing this in the middle of making a sale at KibriGalini (I hope the bride has bought). I am quoting what you said "Had a phone call from Tom in the UK he has asked me to post this as he is not near a computer at the moment. The strike is only affecting CTA at the moment, he is advising allowing 3 hours for check in to cope with the back log. I am sure he will be on later with all the latest news" It was very hard to get answers as CTA in London were not informed till after the staff got into the offices (& that info was very poor). Staff who were off work went in to try to assist; so be nice to them. I was trying to get assistance for Cyprus44 from them, our people in Cyprus & Pegasus but it was slim and I had to go out before 08.00 today for personal reasons, so again thank you Teresa. Check in early; KTHY will have trouble, they are laying on extra flights on Sunday to assist. Call Ercan for info! Will try to find out more Tom

Msg 26....there is not any point in strike action ......full stop! Strikes are only about personal greed/gain and individuals/small groups wielding power over unfortunate innocents, who have paid for a service!

those that strike usually end up without a job as they are too dense to realise that they got it good now!! Strike action only makes others more against the cause that they are striking for!!! Airport workers at Ercan will need to pull their socks up or a lot more will go to Larnaca, no passengers, no work, more to get the sack!!

The 7.10am from Manchester to Paphos has now been cancelled. Some people from the Ercan flight decided to go for the Paphos option and are now stranded once again.
