seems that the euro is suffering south as tourists mostly uk based are heading to the north in good numbers this year. would be a few more italians if the gcs had not put the mockers on that. so thats a bit of good news for a change hope they can continue although the ercan fracas may put people off. what do you think girls and guys

Hope so ,couldnt get any worse. I hope tourism ,both north and south, does well. Had thought TRNC was concentrating on Turks and Russians, the Casinos are an attraction, and giving up on the British market Where is the link to these figures. Hope people from the UK give it another go,might at least encourage CTA flights from N,Ireland and Scoatlan.

girne 29 I'm sure we all share your hope 'people from the UK give it another go' but I hate to say it, why would they? What has the TRNC government, it's politicians, civil service, local councils etc. done to encourage more tourism?

Good point Hector. In fact what has it done to encourage more Brits to buy property in NC ? Nothing. In fact its inaction has contributed greatly to the general decline in the building industry and the reduction in "buyer visits" Since the Klondike days of 2004 and 2005 people have woken up to the realities of NC to discover that most of it is Fools Gold !

I went to the GP surgery to see a nurse, I mentioned going to NC and she asked me if I had a property there, I said no way I just go for holidays, she said she has a friend who is really ill over the worry of having bought there four years ago and still can't move in she has re-mortaged her house over here and it is costing a fortune keep going to and back to NC to check on progress, and doesn't seem to be getting anywhere.

Cronos Was meaning just the tourism, I actively discourage anyone from buying in the TRNC ,when they ask me .Usually I just tell them to google North Cyprus property and look at any non estate-agent site. That aside, we are where we are, and hopefully TRNC will see the light and try and improve tourism. Just one thing ,north cyprus,if they return, please try and keep them. There are, as in a lot of countries, people who just want to provide a service and make a living,Its a shame they are confounded by others.

Tourism to any area served by the Euro is suffering, as for NC there was a good write up in the Scottish Sunday Mail commenting how beautiful it is and the difference in prices between the South and the North. To Hector, My husband and I should be there now but due to a health problem we too had to cancel, so I agree the bars and restaurants will suffer badly because of this. I love cyprus, the first time was in the South, but I was educated eventually and I do hope the North will never become as commercialised as the South. I hope that someday (regardless of some of the comments) that I can live out my old age looking at the mountains and the sea in TRNC. I think it is the main priority on my Bucket List.

Woodspeckie, An all too common and familiar tale I'm afraid. How many people has she told? Bad news spreads quickly and can only have a continuing negative effect on NC. When will those who claim to be political leaders in Turkey & NC actually start to earn their considerable wages and do something about it?
