Advice please on Emissions Testing

Had test done last Sept 1st. went to day for new test to garage behind Friends Hotel that was, Guy told me I don,t have to have a it until MOT next Sept. So basically the Certificate that i got last year lasts until the next MOT. But this is the good bit spoke to our friend a little later who uses the same garage and she says they renew her,s each year, I thought it was a yearly test, But he is adamant that it, lasts until the next MOT date. Can some one please give me the correct info. Thank You

You need an emission test every year,you need to produce it when renewing road tax.

All of the above are correct!!

That is because the law on emission testing has changed, i believe, three times. The latest version is that you need to have your emission test done at the same time as your mot test.

I have read recently, either on this forum or another, that people going for MOTs have been sent by the police to get the emissions test done on the same day even if they had it done the week before and they were then told that they wouldn't need another test until the next MOT but that it had to be done on the same day. Hope this makes sense.

got another one @ 20tl this month for test.

They do them behind Erdeners, Karacum, down the road on left.

Sorry I should have also said that my husband went to get our car taxed today and our emissions test was done more than a year ago and they didn't want to see it so I can only assume that it is only needed now when the MOT is done.

johny had mot done by erdeners garage today and although i had a current emmisions certificate it had to be done as the law has changed in conjunction with the mot which on petrol cars will be 3 years.

diesels are for 1 year only



make sure your engine bay is clean so the police can read your vin plate the garage will do this and you must have four mudflaps which a cheap set will do the garage will supply the warning triangles and first aid kit if you dont have one. (would always recommend you have first aid and fire extinguisher)

the cost is 100 tl 40 quid approx got mine back no hassle no problems

it's require new emmisions certificate, you can use it only one year, so You have to renew it every year, you have to do this every year (1st September), because is valid for year of use. You can go Tijen Garage that is in Karaoğlanoğlu after Tempo market about 200 m. on the right handside, when you come from Lapta towards to Kyrenia.

I think with all this conflicting info on how often these tests need doing I would, for the sake of 20TL, get one done annually then at least you are covered, this is what we have done as it seems the government have either:



a) not informed all the relevant 'advisors' how often these tests should be done (I was told by the police, annually then my friend has been told by the police - every 3 years!)



or



b) they keep moving the goalposts which is nothing unusual for the TRNC.

Judging by the conflicting information coming from both garages & the Police, it seems that as usual in the TRNC. even the "experts" don't seem to have a clue either?
