We got ours from a shop near the roundabout just before the police station in famagusta. They delivered and installed it exactly as they promised.

Local Supermarket - Dish and Washing up Liquid

You do not have the water there for the use of so many dishwasters. I rented a villa for the past 2 weeks and it had a dishwasher. Because of the water shortage, and the high cost of electric I did not use it once. I bougth a dish, plate rack scourer and washed them up daily. I am buying a house there and even though I have a dishwasher in the UK, I would not have one there.

think about it!!!!!!

Katymackem,

Todays Triple 'A' rated machines can be more economical than actually using a sink and water. As little as 21 litres of water is used through pre wash, wash and rinse. If you do without pre wash then that can be as little as 17 litres. That's less than 2 bowl or sink fulls. The other advantage is that your dishes are actually more hygienically cleaner than sink washing.

When we lived there; a family of 4 of us, the dishwasher was put on once a day before we went to bed and emptied every morning. The quantity it wahed was more economical than "wash as you go".

In winter you are required to heat a tank of water with immersion heaters to get the hot water you need to do your dishes. A dishwasher always fills with cold and heats just what it needs. A whole load will cost less than 1 unit of electricity.

I have to agree with Timothy, you only have to read the 'which' reports and search the internet to find that a high rating machine is far more economical than washing as you go.

The only thing that costs a little money is forking out for enough crockery to last until you fill up the machine!

I did not say wash as you go. I cleaned the plates well and put them in water (to prevent flies and smell) and washed them all up together at the end of the day. The dish was a small one (so was the sink). It is not just the amount of water they use it is also the electric, and as negativenick says the same tools you use to do this also does te ironing - or do you use an automatic ironer too?
