We are looking for a good permanent home for Daisy. She was abandoned on our doorstep in May, hungry and frightened, so we looked after her although we knew it wasn’t the sensible thing to do because there was a possibility we would have to return to the UK at some point. We just couldn't leave her to die from hunger or get run over. She is a lovely dog – like most in NC- and is affectionate, friendly and intelligent. Also obedient - when she listens!! We have bought her a large kennel and she sleeps outside on the terrace although she loves to sleep inside during the heat of the day (usually upside down). I know there are too many dogs in NC looking for homes but we have had Daisy since she was about 6 weeks old so not long since she was weaned or taken from her mum. She hasn't been roaming the streets but has had a good home. If we knew we would be able to stay here permanently we would not be looking for a home for her but it hasn’t worked out that way. I think she wou

What a beautiful dog she is. We too are in the UK where we have Monty another beautiful dog we rescued 12 years ago. A faithful companion he has proved to be. Am sure Daisy will prove to be the same for some kind person, please.

Hi Whistler and Lilli I have thought about taking her. I've thought about ways to not have to leave here. If we were going home for good we wouldn't think twice about taking Daisy no matter what the expense but we aren't. It is possible I will be here for the next few months but I thought if Daisy was going to be re-homed it would be better doing it now - we have had her since May so only 4 months-I thought she would still be able to settle with new owners. She is very attached to us both but is such a friendly outgoing dog I thought she would adapt ok. Please if someone out there has a large garden and loves dogs please give Daisy a home-she deserves a chance. We have given her a start but we can't figure out a way we can keep her. REdboxer

Redboxer Good luck, you say you are not going back permanently. Is there not someone who could look after her? She is beautiful. Same thing here..if I knew we were def staying, I would have her in a heartbeat. I had to make the decision to leave my 'old boy' behind. 'Harry' my lab is 13 and I have had him since he was 8 weeks. He is happy and with family who love him too, but I feel sooo guilty. I can feel myself filling up as I write so I know how hard it is.

Thank you Vidal - It is hard - we get so attached to our dogs. I don't know what we're doing-its so up in the air and my first concern was for Daisy. I don't want her to be re-homed but I was thinking of what would be best for her. Maybe I shouldn't worry so much and just hope I'm able to stay. Don't feel too guilty - you have found a good loving home for your 'Harry' and if he could talk he would probably have said 'go'!
