my friend is married to a turkish cypriot who has his kimlik card, they holiday here each year for a few months but has been told to get her residency card so she doesnt get any fines. they thought just to get her kimlik card and they have been told to go to the british consulate in london with birth and marriage certificate and from the form she is given from them she will get her kimlik card when she returns here. has anybody done this and is it as simple as that

Is there a British consulate in London? I think not, it's the foreign office for sure. I could stand corrected.

I think you will find it takes quite a while to obtain your vatandas even with the papers who have to produce, not a quick process.

soyelcin,

msg1;

Yes it is as simple as that if your friend already has "kimlik card".

My wife is Irish,and I got her one after a year of being married.

Unfortunetly,being Cyprus,is who you know,so I was able to get my wife's in 2 weeks.

Hi. Last time I was at the Ministry of Interior office I was told that after 1 year of marriage to a Kimlik card holder you can apply for a Kimlik card there. I suggest your friend goes along to that office with her husband, plus her birth certificate, passport and marriage certificate. Based on my husband's experience of getting his card, I expect they'll process it there and then and your friend can go back after a week or so to collect the card. Hope this helps.

thankyou all for your replies, from what you are saying you can get a kimlik card without a residency card but she has been told she must get a residency first and then her kimlik card. she does not need a residency card as she only holidays here but wants her kimlik card. do you know for sure you can get a kimlik card without having a residency card

Does anybody know anything about the army? Few years ago we've been told that my hubby has to go there if he wants to get the kimlik card.
