Just wondering if anyone can give us advice on our dishwasher...

We have had it less than 6 months and it was working perfectly until a couple of weeks ago when it simply seemed to stop washing the dishes!! It still makes all the right sounds, water is running through it... we have had an arcelik technician out twice now and he says it is fine... hmmm - fine, as long as you don't want clean dishes!!! We have checked the rinse aid and salt - doesn't seem to be a problem there.

Anyway - was wondering if anyone else had any suggestions/advice...? Obviously, the dishes are cleaner when they come out than when they go in but - having had dishwashers previously, I'm used to dishes coming out super clean from the dishwasher - the cutlery is being discoloured and left with horrible chalky marks, glasses are coming out cloudy, cups look like they've just been used and left for a few days and plates come out with a whitish film on them...

Any suggestions or advice gratefully received..

Hi its not just your make of dishwasher. Ours has been the same for the last month, he glasses are not clean and look smudged. We have a Beko dishwasher. I have tried to change the rinse aid and use another brand but it is still the same.

Try using a dishwasher cleaner on the hottest cycle, and check the drain hose is clean inside.

Hmmm...thanks guys...

Have tried pulling dishwasher out and checked the hose etc... still the same - I wondered if it wasa salt issue - but the arcelik man seemed to think not and since it stopped working out of the blue, it seems unlikely - do you think it could be to do with water pressure? I will try cleaning it as Paddywack suggested... very bizarre... hey ho!!

the only problem my wife had with our Arcelik dishwasher was caused by the salt forming a solid block. Once I'd cleared it she's had no problems. She always makes sure the high pressure pump is on, what dif. this makes I don't know but she says it does. And highest temp. pos.

Try unscrewing the small disc where the water comes in - it's situated at the centre of the top of the dishwasher - all the small holes in this are most likely to be caked up with lime, therefore not allowing enough water through. Blow it out by mouth, or *soak in descaler.

Next, undo the rotor (underneath the top dishes tray) - with your mouth, blow through all the holes you can see.

You won't do any damage by doing the above, because this should be done as routine maintenance.

*If clogged up - simply put in a bucket of hot water with de-scaling fluid at the recommended dilution rate.

We had this problem - just like yours - now the mystery is solved; for us, anyway!

Good luck!
