I happen to know what Lilly and Guido ("Guido's Bistro", Alsancak) do for unfortunate dogs. I also know that their work cost money (food, vet). They will not ask it here, so someone has to do it. If you can't take or host a dog - leave some money or dog food in their "Dog donations box". If you don't know which kind of foof is needed: call Lilly at: 0533 873 0156. Thank you.

DC well done, somebody over there needed to get something going, as it just falls on a few heads, and mostly Lilli's.

Will donate when we are over, thanks for getting it going, xx

Will this food and money be shared out between ALL the people here who help animals and do so silently?

I can name three neighbours within 200 yards of my house who have taken in four or more dogs and one that took in a stray three days ago.

Remember there are more people here than you think who look after stray dogs and do so without seeking publicity or reward!!

Everyone who takes in strays and cares for animals are doing a good thing but it is their choice and should be done without complaining and constantly telling the world how good they are.

What would be a magnificent gesture is to have all the food collected given to the lady, I will not name her at this stage, who resides near the power station and has over 23 dogs, all strays, and many other animals for which she cares for at her own expense.

If you have not heard of this lady it proves my point in paragraph three.

Hi Codger, just look at it in a positive way re on this forum regarding publicity, even the case of the lady with 23 stray dogs may now get a helping hand. All publicity has its neg and pos attention, its how the world goes around.

When we came over last year a liitle brown dog had been tied up at the top of Arabcoy in a lonely spot and had died a horrible death, at least these other dogs are getting a chance to live.

On the subject of dogs being put down in GB, coachie is partly right as we had one of our working dogs picked up on the back roads by a lady with good intentions who then took her 30miles to a dogs home! we were frantic ringing around and eventually a very kind policeman logged all dogs that were picked up in the last 2weeks, we found were she was and that dog would have been put to sleep the very next day, she went mad when she saw us, and is still back working a very happy dog. (5years ago ).....

RE msg 14, codger: (...) Remember there are more people here than you think who look after stray dogs and do so without seeking publicity or reward!! (...)

=> I want to underline in this thread (btw called "Dog donations box" at Guido's open now) that Lilly and Guido did not seek publicity or reward. THEY DIDN'T EVEN KNOW that I would write my message number 1. And I didn't do it for publicity or reward either. It's sad that almost every well meant initiative on this board attracts sour or insinuating comments.

Now, now DC, why do you need to get all 'upity' as nobody is having a go, just pointing out something that he feels. Nobody is really saying that you have done it for publicity, just let it go over your head, you started something for which many are grateful for, especially the dogs! lol

Only today he got through 7 tins. It did not matter to us we would have done it anyway/ The people here have been so kind and we are so very gratefull. I know I advertise what comes to me but in this way if they are lost then they are found. If abondened maybe i find a home. Ask anyone my success rate. They are in my care such a short time xxxxxxxxxx

Lilli not having a go at you, just want DC to see what good he has done with you, he must look at the good sometimes and not the bad, most people are good, not many evil, just sometimes things overtake and what we class as evil is just that education regarding animals has not always been first in their lives.

DC most of us applaud you for doing what you had the initiative to do man! lol xx
