Old news! BBC is always way behind. I noticed neither BBC nor CNN made any mention of the istanbul flooding, or the deaths and utter destruction caused by it, until Wednesday afternoon, nearly 2 days after it started and was getting full, live coverage on the Turkish news channels, including CNNTurk. When 9/11 happened I was in istanbul where I had Cable TV and could watch what was happening on CNN live. My friend had Digiturk but had no CNN, only BBC, and had no idea what was going on. There was no report on BBC of the plane into the Pentagon or the downed plane until much later and I was giving her information down the phone from CNN. Even after the 2nd plane had gone into the towers, BBC was still saying it didn't know what was going on and it could 'possibly' be a terrorist attack. Since that day, I have only ever watched CNN for up-to-date news and events.

Dear Clare

Sorry, but the Beeb world service covered this on TUESDAY.. the rains started Monday

ALL news stns take feeds from most of their opposition, so if a story isn't highlighted - this is down to the stn controller :(

The beeb have a correspondent - David O'Byrne, in Istanbul.

But you may have a point that the Beeb can get it WRONG.. Can't speak for 911 - as I was in an important meeting that afternoon, and the first I heard of it was when I turned on my mobile when driving home ..

The Beeb were reporting the Helios flight disaster over Athens was a Cyprus Airways Airbus - it was a Boeing 737 of Helios Airways - when the French radio news ( I was in France) had it spot on an hour earlier... I was screaming at the French stn to "get it right" ..
