| This subject has probably been asked and answered time and time before, but could somebody tell me if there is a minimum deposit for current accounts, and high interest accounts, and also how do I go about applying for temporary residence when I move over, and how long does it take to be a permanent resident? | Hi Chris No there isn't a minimum balance or deposit to open a bank account. The more you have to put into the savings the better rate of interest you can get. Temporary residency. Go to Girne Police station and on the wall you can see exactly what you need to do. This procedure seems to change from week to week so its better to go to the Police Station to check yourself. In a nutshell you have to take photocopies of your Contract (apparently it now has to show the stamp on it), photocopies of your passports, passport photos, stamps, blood test which has to be done first and TB test. Permanent residency is applied for after you have 5 temporary residencies but it will happen in your 6th year. Karen |

| Hi Chomluc I believe so. They do the 10 puncture circle on your arm, you go away for a couple of days. When you go back to collect your blood results they check the TB marks, if no reaction then you are ok. Dunno what happens if you do get a reaction though. Probably nothing Karen |

| Do you have to have a blood test/ TB test every year or is it a one off? Where do you go to have this done? Hospital or doctors? Chris |

| A couple of answers in Karen's absence: - The blood test/TB test is only done for the first application - Copy of police file not required - A letter from your Muhtar is required (also for renewal of residency) - You can go to any of the private clinics for the tests (approx 100 ytl per person) - A copy of a recent bank statement is also needed I would agree with Karen that it is wise to go to the Police station to check the up-to-date list of requirements in case things have changed. | Am I right in thinking that there is not much point in applying for temporary residence if you are likely to be out of NC for more than 90 days a year? Martin |
