I was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere that sold electric fences for dogs. We had a dog before that we got from KAR that we let loose on our large orchard during the day, as it never bothered chickens or anything and it loved to run about. However, it was poisoned either by eating a poisoned crow or on purpose, we have no clue which. I'd love to get another dog, but I'm not willing to do that until we know they'll keep away from anywhere close to the road where anyone might poison them. Our garden is massive and the one wall we do have any decent size dog could jump. I'm not willing to chain a dog up all day so I'm thinking electric fence is the best option. Any suggestions?

So instead of running the risk of your dog escaping and getting poisoned you want to electrocute it instead !!

cooper, get real. Electric fencining just gives off a little buzz which is suffiecient to keep most animals inside the compounded area. It is widely used in the uk to control cattle, sheep and horses but do not know where you could buy a kit here.

Mahdel,

If your garden is 'massive' why not create a large run for the dog and then take him long walks and use a muzzle to prevent him eating poisoned meat!

Hi Lilli

I have a pal comming out to live in TRNC very soon but mean while i am more than willing to get hold of

a muzle for you or i can send you some links to web sites

I admit i have no idea if its difficult to get things sent to you in TRNC but am more than willing to try

i gather your dog is an average staffie? if so i can use a pal staffie as a muzle tester (if Kara (the staffie) co-operates)

To the chap who started this thread I would build a run near the house with a roof we did that for our rottie to keep her safe in UK as there was a spate of dog thefts they were going after rotties and staffies

and i would Kill the barsteward that hurt my dog !!

I have to say their attitude to Animals is putting me off cyprus as a place to live altogether let alone the developers and advocates but then again if they tie poor little children up what the hell do you expect

Hi Alex that is so very kind of you. I have looked for one here to no avail. He is an average staffi. Like you I would like to poision these evil people also. I think your correct the attitude here is putting a great deal of people off. A lot are returning back to UK or varioius other places. I am jst dreading the hunting season when we will here of a lot more tradgies. xxx
