Does anyone know of and can give the location of proper turkish baths in or near Girne preferably to the west of the city. I do not mean spas as there are a few of those but I have not seen any baths anywhere.

Real old "Hamam" in Lefkosa. Lay out on the old stone slabs - heat from the fires in the basement below. Worth a visit.

The Mercure has a turkish hamam, a steam room, 2 saunas and 2 jacuzzis together with indoor swimming pool and gymnasium.

When I was in Istanbul some years ago and paid 35YTL to get the shit beaten out of me in one of the oldest hammams in the World! Never again, though I did feel better two days later when I could walk again!

Theres one at the 'russian' hotel off the roundabout past the Acmenya in alsancak - turn right at the roundabout and you will find the hotel on the left past the moslem cemetery.

Msg 11,

It is within the old walled city, down one of the side streets opposite the Saray Hotel.

I haven't used it but had a look round -very old and traditional.

The Acapulco, Savoy, Mercure and Malpas all have Hamam's. I've been a member of the Gym at the Colony for 4 years and can confidently say they don't have a Hamam, just a sauna, steam and Jacuzzi. Was in

Anatalya last year and had a scrub and peel then a massage and have to say it was the best I've ever had.

Has anyone tried the "Russian" Hotel. Is it one with a list of "extras"?
