RE msg 1, lovingcyprus: "The onspeed software: technically what it does, rather than speeding up your connection, is decrease the amount of info you need to download - you are using compression software. The quality of the pictures you see (download) is sometimes very bad, but that is the price you pay." More here: http://portal.onspeed.com/?rf=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.onspeed.com%2Findex.php

Addition: Pics and graphics on the Internet are usually of the .jpg and .gif format. They are already compressed and any more compression (onspeed) will unavoidable lead to a loss of more quality. (JPEG Definition: Joint Pictures Expert Group. The committee which set standards for a file format for graphics. The JPEG file format is a compressed format, with some loss of quality during compression. A popular web format due to the small size of pictures (generally). File formats of .jpg, .jpeg, and .jpe.).

By compressing the amount of data that is downloaded it obviously speeds things up does it not. One would normally use Onspeed with a dial up connections or any other slow connections. It really does speed things up by quite a degree, I say this from experience
