Just out of curiosity do many of you either rent out or rent apartments with landlines. From a landlords point of view I would not have one in a rental property as it would be another possible liability. Interested to hear what others think.

I have rented many places all over the world and have always found properties with existing landlines. Why would it be a liabiility for a landlord? The line is there and it is up to the tenent to go and pay the deposit and put the service in their name. If a tenent doesn't want the phone then they just don't get it connected up. Would have thought it would make your property more appealing esp for long term lets.

Here in uk most do have a land line incomming calls only unless the tenant has the service placed in their name BT are now quite cute about this and insist on a large deposit which will be returned when you disconect the service as they had been caught for large bills when the tenant moved on they wont even entertain conection for a 6 month tenancy which can cause problems

Hi Melanie, Just seen your ad about the apartment. Is it still available and if so, is it a holiday let and can it be let on short term (one month at a time)? Do you have photos available? I've just moved out here and am looking for somewhere furnished for the moment until I can get my own furniture which is in storage in the UK shipped out here. Any info re. furniture shipping arrangements out here too gratefully received!!

Hi Mubali I have emailed you with pictures of the apartment and terms. Regarding furniture shipping arrangements there is a lot of useful information on the board. I recall James Valentine and Olaytrans get good reviews, do a search on those names. Good luck!
