| Having my lunch in a local cafe in the YUK ,just brought to my attention the reasons why a/ i havent voted for 25yrs b/ i havent bought a newspaper for 25 yrs and c/ Jesus hasnt this landfill site deteriorated in the last 25 years.Just to expand on this statement ,i have just perused the headlines of the Daily Express ( the cafe freebee i might add ) and was astonished yet not surprised at the content of the headlines on most pages ,to which i would like to share a few with your permission; 1/ The police are keen to take on more lesbian ,gay, cross gender and transvestives to train up to be members of the Queens personal guard in London......mmmmmmmmmmm 2/ After a man and his wife were pelted with apples for three nights running at their home by a gang of yobs (making several 999 calls to the police with no appearance) he decided on the third night to attempt a citizens arrest by holding one of the yobs around his neck,but with the rest of the yobs attacking him he had to release |

| Yes bachelibelly, and I read I think it was yesterday in the Mail that a mother and her daughter committed suicide because the police just ignored their plees for help over the past few years regarding bullies and yobs on their estate.! It makes you so angry that we the british public have now no faith in our police force. Another reason when I go to NC, I dont have a telly, or listen to the radio, its bliss to just get away from our crime levels in the GB. The drunken hooligans are a plague in our towns now because our 'wet' police do not enforce their powers. I think the fire hoses would sort out a few, they wouldnt like being swamped every Fri/Sat night.... We need a tougher stance on all crime.... |

If you see the stats on crime today re our police then perhaps we might take you serious! NC is far behind in crime compared with GB, our police are too soft by far. Look at how the Kent police have started to tackle the crime, zero tolerance, good on them, at long last someone is getting to grips with the hooligans. | Ah Coachie ,i'm glad we finally got to the "industrial base",just jog my memory that was labours way of rigging unemployment by vastly overmanning our super efficient and highly profitable and worldwide competetive "nationalised employment agencies". As someone who was raised in a mining and car production industry area dont go there ,first hand experience of my ex brother in law who worked for one of your flagship car industries, i quote " all we do is sleep and play cards all night its great ,gangs of us do fook all". At the time i remember commenting to him that "the golden goose will end in tears".Join the picket line Coachie with Arthur ,your lot is what put the "GRATE in Britain". Brinsley ,that was when we could afford to have the lights on....before the Blair Witch Project !!!! |

| Bachelibelly, what you say is quite true as I also had an uncle in the 'car industry', well steel actually, making steel for whatever, he would clock on, go find a place to sleep, as all friends with the charge hands,.... many of those on the shifts just did this. Then they wonder why these 'lame' ducks got caught out and closed down. A lot of the miners were just clocking in as well, doing half shifts when there was only work for 10, 15 would be needed, way over staffed. No wonder these pits were closed down, it is called robbing the hand that feeds you........... Labour encouraged these men to strike, to their own down fall, Maggie stood up to them, or we would have been in a darn site more mess. Now we have another mess and I cannot see how we will be able to start our regrowth without heavier taxes and being very tough on public spending, ..... |

| DC, exactly, i am all for home produced goods and an export industry but we werent in the game ,under producing ,over manned ,over priced , and over here. You cannot run loss leaders on such a vast scale,subsidies have to end somewhere and books have to balance.25 years ago i could buy a product from the other side of the world ,comparative in quality ,cheaper than a UK manufacturer 2 miles down the road and it most cases delivered quicker .Still we have now inherited the new "enemy within" in the EU , based in Brussels and wasting money ,handing out subsidies , overproducing food to rot in camps,(whilst half the world is malnourished) and if we thought the government expenses fraud was a disgrace wait till someone gets a look at the EU balance sheet (the factual one ). |

| Dizzy ..now now my dear,my father worked all his life in the mines ,apart from the war,and he did not clock on to go to sleep.If you knew anything about mining you would know that is the last thing they do.The old man was Shot firer and eventually a deputy,both important jobs in the mines, and know way would he allow it.You get yourself and others killed by that sort of irresponsible behaviour.Most miners were paid on production out put,peace work as they call it,so the more you shift the more you get paid.As for your statement about HER being concerned about global warming is ludicrous.The term was not even thought of then.The only thing she was concerned about was Arthur Scargill.As a trade union leader he left a lot to be desired as far as I am concerned,but he was right in one thing that he did say and that was she was going to close every mine in the country just to break the NUM.We used coal for a helluva long time after the miners strike and still do today.It is dearer than ours |

Looking forward to the return of the Tory party.......Tax cuts, including scrapping inherritance tax, Better Health service, Pension increases, no wars, no strikes, no sleaze, no more asylum seekers, no more fat cats, no more boom & bust, no more inflation, no more university fees, reduced crime, olympics coming in on budget, no more sleeping in coal mines, etc.....What a wonderful place it wil be to live. |

| Coachie, I was a Yorkshire miner for 13 years. Arthur Scargill was the Union claims officer until Sam Bullough died. (nobody's heard of Sam Bullough) That's when he started his rise to power. Maggie brought in Yankee Mac to beat the him. He did. In retrospect she was right. Piecework and taskwork were dangerous ways to work underground, The Power Loading Agreement made things safer, that was a deputy's main function, safety. Actually, shotfirers and deputies were looked down on by colliers. They say vets are failed doctors, miners say deputies are failed miners. When I started as a miner in 1961 there were over half a million miners in UK. When I left in 1974 there were about 25,000. I think there's about 4 now. Maggie didn't take Arthur Scargill on to beat the miners, she did it to break the Trades Union stranglehold on the country. If you think for yourself, instead of following what your father taught, you'll find Maggie was the best PM we've ever had, NOT excepting Churchill. |

| Minertor how right you are, have several welsh cousins that were miners and they did get up to tricks, and the trade unions turned a blind eye to a lot of the stuff that went on. As unfortunately in life there is always some that 'pull the wool over bosses eyes' , and then when the s--te hits the fan the ones have that pulled their weight and not cheated the system get tarred with the same brush. They have to take the flak that was not of their making. Of course Maggie had to do something, the country was nearly on its knees with power cuts, 3 day week, terrible. It effected every industry, every person in the country. I remember being brought to my knees with over load of work because of the strikes, it bankrupted many people. The trade Unions were to strong for the good of their own and the country. Hey, but we are all here to remember, and so it cant be tooooo bad now, .....or can it? Is Gordon, Cameron, or any of them strong enough to get us out of this mire? |

| What mires that then Dizzy? You don't seriously think that these rogues that govern UK would get us in so deep we couldn't get out, do you? Who's going to lose the most? It's just a scam to stop the proletariate fighting for their rights. Remember the Torrey Canyon, the oil spill was going to destroy the ecology. They harnessed and scooped it, threw solvent on it, bombed it, tried to burn it, nothing worked. Whilst the experts sat back studying what to do next, nature solved it. As it had been solving such "calamities" since the beginning of time. Saddam set fire to the oil fields of Kuwait. The smoke was going to block out the sun and bring about the return of the Ice Age. Did it? Course it didn't, but it scared us, didn't it. Only believe half of what you see, and disregard almost everything that you only hear. These really did block the sun for years. The trade unions have a bit to much power again now, so dont know if Tory policy will be strong enough to halt this threat again. Wish I could have your belief that we were not in it so deep that they(government) couldnt get us out!! ... Voted Labour years ago when Hessy made a dash for the post, but regretted it after, but then my vote was only one so several others were feeling the same as me at the time.. |

| Just to ease back on track to add to my original post , snippets from the Daily Mail from Saturday ( not bought ,read at friends) two single mothers returning to work were stopped from babysitting each others child as it was illegal as stated by the child minders union ( whoever they are ), these women had given birth at a similar time , were good friends ,just wanted to return to work .Much better off sitting back claiming benefits etc. thats the way forward Gordie my boy. Another article of interest ,the lady who BA are taking to court over wearing a small silver cross, she has been suspended on no pay ,legal fees approaching £290,000 which will cause her to sell her home if she loses ,due to a judges ruling she wil be libel to pay. Apparantly its ok for most other religions to wear items that depict their faith at BA , but then of course denying them would be racist , the mind boggles .. !!!! |

| Just so out of order a lot of stuff that is taken to court, some of the judges want a boot up the jacksie, never in the real world half of them. How on earth can some one be stopped from letting their child be minded by a friend in exchange for each others work time? This is another case where the Unions are getting out of hand again.
