Sorry have been on the Forum for a few months now but did not think to say hello - anyway always felt this was where I belonged. Lots of people on the Forum wished me happy birthday but also sent me their love and positive thoughts on my ongoing treatment for Breast cancer which has given me lots of positive vibes and hope that by the end of October the c word will not be on my own agenda ever again. However, this is not a nice post and I do not apologise for that. Asda over a number of years have raised a lot of money during (EXCUSE ME FEEL SICK AT THE NAME) Pink October to raise money for research. Please believe me most BC patients do not feel breast cancer is pink nor fluffy but to add insult to injury Asda this year have, and I personally think it ironic, have that JORDAN person fronting an advertising campaign. She has an ITV4 (i think) programme 'What Katie did next ' next post please

cont. In this programme they show her getting ready to do the ad for the Asda 'Tickled Pink Campaign'. She hides behind a curtain and giggles that no-one would want to see her scarred boobs!!!!!!!!! Sorry lets get real here. Her scars are of her making. My scars are real, I did not want or ask for them. There are a lot of young and not so young people (males get this too) that could and would do without breast surgery. Anyway I will get back to what I really wanted from as many people on the Forum as possible who care to e-mail or write to Asda to let them know how insensitive having this moronic siliconed person 'FRONTING' the Tickled Pink Campaign is and that through the media and Breast Cancer Care Forum they should make a public apology. Lets face it she is only pushing her own underwear range. PLEASE HELP ME AND THE FORUM MEMBERS ON BREAST CANCER CARE fix ASDA out. At the moment until they apologise publicly and remove silicone thing they will lose a lot of customers.

Boglefan can you get me an e-mail address for Asda and I will contact them. As you say it makes a mockery of anyone who has or had breast cancer to use someone like Jordon!

Boglefan...NOT in the best possible taste as you say. I have a sister who had breast cancer and I can imagine she is feeling the same way. Our positive thoughts are with you, bless you. Can you post Asda's email address here?

Thanks No1 for the link. Boglefan, Do not apologise for 'ranting and raving', I think the majority of us who have now had the time to read your thread are stunned at the insensitivity of ASDA. I, too, have sent an email and where they ask which store you shop in I told them that 'I would not be supporting ASDA by shopping in any of their stores from now on'. I didn't tell them that I live in TRNC!!!!

Yup, they have had my thoughts on the matter. This was an ill thought out campaign. Whoever was the twonk who thought that one up...and even more, the bigger twonk who patted him (Sorry, but I bet it was a him) on the back and said 'oh Katie Price, what a jolly good idea'

Numpty, thank you for your support. I am so sorry for your loss, no-one should lose a child. Breast cancer like any other is not pink or fluffy, it still devastates lives. I think that most people will be shocked that only 5% goes to the charities. Thank you to everyone once more. Irene. XX

At least they used a celeb who has actually had cancer and someone as high profile as Katie Price will draw a lot of attention to it. Sorry some are upset about this but it's not all bad in my opinion.

When Karen Keating died from Breast cancer her mother Gloria Hunniford raised awareness to this disease, why couldn't Asda have chosen someone similar. It is just typical of how plastic and false some companies are if they think Jordan could ever be a figure head.

Gloria would have been great, also did they think of asking Kylie Minogue she at least has been there and knows the ups and downs of it. Rubberduck males also get breast cancer ie - snooker player John Higgins father is a victim of it. Using silicone valley to (pardon the pun) 'front ' a breast cancer campaign is totally obscene.

nurseawful where did I say I doubted Boglefan's ability to talk about this subject? You won't be able to point that out as I didn't. Nor did I say 'she comes across too strong on this subject'. Please re-read my post and keep in mind that everyone is entitled to an opinion even if that opinion is different to your own. And thank you for pointing out that males also get breast cancer. I am clueless as to why you referred it to me though Boglefan - it is something I am more than well aware of. There was nothing rude or condescending in my post and I am entitled to my opinion also.

Thank you for contacting me. I'm so sorry you feel so strongly against Katie Price being involved. She is just one of many celebrities who have offered their time for free to help raise awareness of the campaign, including Martine McCutcheon, Donna Air and Jessica Taylor. We do approach lots of people but they are unfortunately unable to offer their time, as much they would like to. Thanks to the continued support of customers, Asda colleagues and a host of celebrities the Asda Tickled Pink campaign has raised over £20million for Breast Cancer Campaign and for Breast Cancer Care. Both charities support our decision to use Katie as part of the campaign. Katie donated her time for free and also £30,000 of her money through sales of her products in store and we are extremely grateful for her contribution. After listening to the feedback we have had, the last thing we want to do is upset anyone and so we won't be using Katie in any publicity shots. Nobody was happy with what Ka

Nobody was happy with what Katie said on the show, especially us. We were extremely grateful for her contribution to both breast cancer charities - it's a lot of money that clearly helps and so the lingerie range will still be in store so that there is still have the chance to raise as much money as possible. Last year Katie donated £16, 000 to Tickled Pink. Over the past thirteen years, the Tickled Pink campaign has raised over £20million for Breast Cancer Campaign and for Breast Cancer Care thanks to the continued support of our customers, Asda colleagues and a host of celebrities who donate their time for free. Everyone involved this year will be working hard to once again raise much needed funds and do whatever they can to raise awareness. Kind Regards Lucy Robinson ASDA Service Team This is received today from Asda after my e mail regarding Katie Price

My late mother wasn't "tickled pink" to die from breast cancer!!!!! What an incongruous, ludicrous advertising slogan - who the hell thought of that one.......... Am writing to Asda now, about choice of Katie and measly 5%. Katie Price proves on a daily basis how dysfunctional and inadequate she is as a person, she is clearly very damaged and appears to be breaking down (yet in total denial) as we speak. She verbally castrated Peter Andre at every turn on their 'reality' programme' and her only point of reference about anything is the plastic footballs sewn into her breasts and sex. She is turning into a characteur of herself; she appears stunned that most of society view her erstwhile husband as a decent bloke who puts family above anything else, and her as an emotional cripple and the main protagonist. If her family had any sense, they would get her into therapy immediately, not just for her sake, but that of the stability of her children. She now cuts a very tragic figu

Ms Garnet just to update you and everyone who have helped in making Asda realise the insensitivity of this campaign. I have just been on the Breast Cancer Care Forum and Asda along with Breast Cancer Care are now asking members of the Forum to help them plan 'the way forward', hopefully if the members are listened to the 'tickled pink' campaign will become a thing of the past. Asda have over the years raised a lot of money for research but sufferers and their families do not find cancer pink and fluffy. Asda now seem to have taken this on board, thanks to everyone who voiced their opinion, and now want to move forward with a fund raising campaign that will be more sensitve to those who have lost a loved one or who are now terminally ill with this disease. Thank you once again to everyone. Irene
