I log in most days to see what is happening in the TRNC. I am a house owner and have been living here in the trnc for just over 2 years now. I love it here, it is an idyllic place to live and we have a far better lifestyle than we ever did in Surrey. I joined this forum to be able to find out how to go about things I did not know, especially where the paperwork is concerned. This forum has been more than helpful in this respect. Just lately though, I am fed up to the back teeth with the amount of abuse on this forum. I go to look at what I believe is a useful thread to see people slating each other. Does this forum have no respect for anyone. Will I get a lot of abuse for even mentioning it. Please can we have some/more respect for each other and their views and post any reply's in a more diplomatic way.

Julia, take it from me it's all going to stop. It happens from time to time on all forums - however I can assure you it will happen less and less on this one. Stick with us.

As a fairly new member and watcher I must say what a most helpful site BUT, I agree, I also have noted this trend. What a shame. If people don't have anything good or helpful to say, why waste their time participating. (Alternatively, see you at "Joe Bloggs" bar 'n come outside 'n sort it.) To all with helpful and good advice, thanks, and keep up the GOOD work.

Hi Julia The forum is full of nice people it's the same old story of the minority giving the majority a bad name. Stick around and you will see. Hopefully see you soon, will have more time for everything and everybody at the end of October. Chris

Please don't give up on the site. Yes, you do get idiots who try to highjack threads but on the whole I think you'll find most people very helpful and kind. I know I've had some great help and advice through this forum and there have been some really good deeds done. If the good members pull together maybe the bad ones will give up the fight

well i have not long joined and i find that there has been plenty of good advice on this forum. perhaps when you already live in a place much that is said and asked is of no great relevance to your situation perhaps it would help if the board was split into sections advice for people looking to buy and another board with advice for people already resident and a wgats on board for residence if they dont already exist that is

In general, I have given up posting on this forum, ( with this exception ) cannot be bothered with the abuse, threats, & lack of Forum admin intervention.

Wow all my favourite people replying. Thanks Chris, Lilli, Britvic and the rest. Looks like we all feel the same, so how can it be made better for all of us. Maybe not to reply to the informatory remarks made by some, or go elsewhere not to be intimidated by derogatory remarks made.

I agree too Julia... See - starting to feel better already!! ) As always - I think it is a minority who tend to be 'difficult'... unfortunately, their impact can be significant. There are too many nice people on the board for it to be all bad! XX

Ah, that movement of the eyes, the tone of the response, the little body language that goes with the statement, the words said in another language, the smile or the frown - all these are lost in the written word. Computers are the scourge of man(and women)kind and should all be banned or at the least buried under 40 tons of rocks forever. Unless you try to see behind a comment there will always be hurt feelings on any forum. Most people say things in jest that to the ear is funny but in the writing it is an insult! You can not beat it but you need to try to understand it or it makes you go away and hide. Not everyone is after you - mind, most people are (said with a grin) - just take it for what it is and try to do what I fail at all the time - don't lose your rag and reply in haste!!!! Fall on your sword every now and then when you are wrong, its good for the soul! Take care out there everyone.

Julia Without the help from members on this forum I would be lost, not only do they help you out with answers to questions, they fall over backwards to help you in other ways also, this is a great forum so stick with it. Sheila

Message 24. As I told you on another thread there are plenty of threads on here mentioning other establishments like Bars and Hotels - it really isn't a problem. By the way I haven't received a free meal at Guidos

Hi Julia, It's just banter, like you'd get from mates in the pub. You've got to take the insults with a pinch of salt, they aren't meant to be taken literally, I hope. For example, you state "I am fed up to the back teeth with the amount of abuse on this forum" After looking at your profile, a member might post "at 59, just how many back teeth have you got left" It's not meant as an insult, it's just banter. You may well have a full set of beautiful teeth, hard to tell when your profile has no photo, not even of your "moons" If you have the time, select who you consider to be the worst "abuser" and check "ALL" of their postings. I'm sure you'll find that the good outweighs the bad. There are one or three exceptions, but we know who they are, hopefully, they will be dealt with. Tony

Juliamoons - I am with you on this and it is so refreshing to hear from someone who is happy living in such a beautiful country. If all these negative people have such issues with living in North Cyprus why the hell are they still there?? My partner and I are coming back over in November to look at properties with a view to buying and no body is going to put us off. I hate the fact that so many people assume you have done no homework and don't have a brain cell to your name!!

Hi Radnor, welcome to TRNC, when you get here. I've been a member of this and other like boards for the seven years that I thought of coming, came and have never regretted it. I bought in Girne in 2003. I have met and befriended many people. I don't recall meeting any that complain about being here. Quite a few have moved elsewhere but that's often due to the cost of family visits. "if all these negative people have such issues with living in North Cyprus why the hell are they still here" answers itself, they're here because they love it, they moan because it's their way. You've got to understand that the majority of expats are Londoners. Watch Eastenders and you'll see what I mean, loada miserable sods, on camera, smashing people off it. Tony ps if you expect to fit in here, can you learn punctuation. pps how do you get them bloody emoticons on here to show you're only joking?

julia dont worry, God created all sort of creatures good and bad to balance each other. Look at message 24. This thread has nothing to do with me but as usual some member mention my name. Why?. It's up to your good sense to answer to evil or to let it go away. Some member feel confortable to hide behind a computer and slag other off, they only balance the law of Nature. guido
