I am in need of help from any members that know this area of London, as I have no idea what is around there.

The reason is, I am taking my mum to London on a day trip and we are heading into this area however, as it is her birthday, I would like to take her out to lunch but don't want to take a chance on a restaurant and it then be awful and ruin our day, so I would rather have some recommendations from any of you that may know that area.

Thanks

Covent Garden is full of resturants you will be inundated with choice not knowing your preferance in taste. Just brouse they all look wonderfull some have just open air areas others have both indoor and out doors

Enjoy

Or McDonalds as Robin Hoody said - I think they are doing an Italian special at the moment. The McMafia or something!

Try Bertorellis or Zizzis, both in Covent Garden.

Lots of hotels round there do overnight/meal/ticket for show deals.

Then you could just browse Covent Garden.

Thanks for the suggestions, I have not been to Covent Garden before so was unsure what to expect, by the looks of it alot!

We will have to head home for the evening, otherwise I would loved to have taken her to a show but the family are putting on a surprise 'do' so I don't think they would be to pleased if I kept her out for the night!!!

My favourite for a decent lunch is The Crusting Pipe, in the basement of the Central Market building.

Some tables outside (glass roof overhead), but best atmosphere inside in the vaulted cellars. Reasonable prices for Central London.

Check sample menu's at:

I would go for Rules also. It was where Edward took Mrs. Simpson. Not cheap but lovely food.

No Scubby did'nt work as a cabbie, but I worked on Shaftsbury Ave for 5 moths and stayed in the Travel lodge Covent Garden But dont reccomend the older 1 ( there are two sperated by the road) this really needs a complete overehaul. Thought I would mention it in case you were tempted to stay overnight But it is handy for all major tourest attractioins.

As I work in the city, why not treat your mum to a lovely appartment, I stay here for a treat when seeing a show or going to a party in town.

The appartments are well worth the money and only 5 mins away from St Pauls Tube.

Plenty of places to buy food and some grt little victorian pubs in the back streets
