I would like to know what anyones views are on fertility treatment. And if anyone has considered having it done. Whether they thought about gender selection or normal ivf.

I have heard that there's a very good private hospital in Lefkosa called Dogus and has a very good reputation especially when it comes to results! In fact they are one of the best and have an english speaking koordinator from London working there.

Gender Selection is generally only permitted in the UK and Europe where embryos need to be screened for certain sex specific genetic disorders. Gender selection is illegal in Turkey but the Jinemed ( Istanbul) clinic send patients from the UK here where it is legal. http://bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk/uk_news/769698stm

What wonderful news for your friend! I have had a look at your success rates for the clinic, they are really quite something at 70%, twice the rate of any clinic in the UK.How do the costs compare to the UK with the average cycle and drugs costing £5-7k at a private clinic?

you'll have to be ready to have the treatment done in the afternoon, as the "specialist" is likely to be pouring concrete in the morning....

With an average cycle comparing UK prices medication would cost around 1000 pounds and normal ivf procedure would be in the regıon of 2000 Euros. Then an extra for accomodation which work out at about 50 Euros per night per room. Would there be any interest do you think???

I am sure she is Tinkie. Candy, the drugs in the UK are Circa £1000, the last time I went to your clinic the drugs were £500 quite an increase. Re the treatment price in the UK for straight IVF is £2000 up plus £175 per consultation, scans about the same, blood tests or Hep and HIV, sperm tests - are these included in your figure? You need to factor in the price of flights - I guess another £600 per couple, plus accom/food, local travel etc. Plus the stress of travelling abroad needs to be considered. I think you will see prices come out the same.Medical tourism has to have advantages - I think many would agree that yours are 1. Gender selection - illegal in the UK and 2. You put back up to 4 fertilized embryo's- also illegal in the UK.

Prices vary according to age, blood tests, Hep, HIV, sperm tests etc have to be done by the patient before coming over for treatment. Car transfers are included as part of the hospital service. To and from airports. NO MORE THAN THREE EMBRYOS ARE PUT BACK!! Its illegal here.
