| I meant: ... go on in this thread? RE msg 6, keithr: (...) hate the EU (...) => Personal hate is not exactly an objective councillor... When we look at European politics Cyprus is not very important, but the Cyprus issue is dead important for TRNC (and expats!). Do you think that TRNC can survive and develop in the long run - without the EU?! I wish the TRNC the very best (whatever "the talks" may bring and whatever the Cypriot Turks may decide in a referendum), but again: without the EU and with only the (financial) hep from Turkey the future is bleak. A dead end I'm afraid. |

| DC. I usually fully agree with what you say, but in mess. 8. I believe you to be totally wrong. When the talks finally break down TRNC will become part of Turkey. It will not be difficult to arrange a referendum here to accomplish this and with Turkish law here many of the problems we have will go away. Turkey, of course does not really want to join the EU, because for one thing, it will mean giving up their "Turkishness". Do not forget Hans that your birthright as well as mine has been given up by our respective governments to foreigners in Brussels and we are ruled by them and we have not benefitted one little bit! |
